I was just over there to see what people are saying about our fair haired son - strange, really.

His name is all wrong - sounds too much like Osama.

Putting him up front is all a big play to really get Hillary elected. I don't really understand that one. Somehow he will go first and then when people discover they don't care for him (because he is too liberal) then they will turn back to Hillary. I guess that is how it is supposed to work.

Course the race card is going to get in there somewhere. Considering his mother is from small town Kansas I don't think that one will work very well - but his father is from Kenya and I guess that is very, very bad.

And of course, he has liberal views on all the trigger point issues. But that is why I really, really like him. He is a true liberal and is not afraid to stand up and just say what he believes - Good for him.

2. I've heard a couple of times that Michele is serious concerned
about his safety and that will be a big consideration in their decision. The latest one I'd heard say that was this past week on Chris Matthews Sunday show (don't recall which reporter it was).

3. That would certainly be a huge concern. There are people
out there who would be crazy enough to try and kill him. Maybe because he is a true liberal (and thus it would be the devil trying to take over the country) and because he is black and there are some who will just go nuts because of that.

I really want him to run - but he needs to consider his family first.

11. I've also been worried he'll be Bobby Kennedy'd.
It's the same scenario all over again...

Charismatic, liberal, attractive, not-in-anyone's-corporate-pocket....

He's got to go as far as those who work for BFEE etc are concerned.

:scared:

Stay well Barack! He's my senator and I've met him on several occasions, he is the real deal. I'd vote for him in a minute if he were ever put out there as a presidential candidate. But I'd worry every day about his safety....

12. Same here. It is a real and genuine threat, no doubt
and I don't think Michele would be concerned if they hadn't already encountered some very scary and nasty threats. She's not some dunderheaded female.

BTW, didn't realize you're here in my locale! Howdy neighbor!

13. Dupage County
:hi:

And yes, I live in the most fundy, evangelical town with the Christian college with the same name that trains fundy televangelists!

Here's hoping you live somewhere more blue!

4. It is the MSM that is cooperating in this RW fundraiser
Basically whenever they want to shore up their base and get some checks written, they start talking about how Hillary Clinton is going to run in 2008. This makes all the Hill-haters get out their check books and write a check to the RNC.

Then about the time they have stopped shaking and have put on dry pants, the MSM starts talking about Obama running for President and out come the check books again.

If we controlled the media and pulled something similar, the MSM would be talking about Jeb Bush running in 2008.

6. So, good press about Obama is part of a right wing plot?
Do you have an approved list of Democrats whom the MSM can positively cover without being accused of participating in the right wing conspiracy? If so, I'd like to see it so I'll know when to be happy about favorable coverage of a Democrat and when to complain about it.

10. I was exaggerating to make a little joke
And the stories I have seen are neutral at best: "Is Obama ready?" "Is Obama electable?" etc.

The MSM is the voice of the military contractors (since they own the major media). They all share the same interests (eg. "staying the course" forever) -- no conpsiring is necessary.

5. Considering these people would probably NEVER vote for any Democrat
their opposition to Obama, while amusing, is really pretty meaningless.

7. It's not meaningless if it brings them out to vote in huge numbers.
But I hope he continues on - I really like the guy and I think his upfront liberalism is great for a lot of us out here.

8. Most of these people will vote anyway, even when the Dem ISN'T Black
And any increase in their numbers would likely be completely overwhelmed by the increase in votes from the minority community and other segments of our base, who would be enormously energized by such a candidacy.

I think it would be ridiculous for the Dems to refuse to nominate a candidate because some neanderthal racist freepers might get mad and not vote for him.

9. I sure hope you are right about that. I think a lot of people who
have been really disenfranchised from our current political system would just love for Obama to run. I know I would.

The only other one I would really get out for is Wes Clark. I really like him, too.

But if the Repugs keep coming out as ugly as they have in Missouri - the ads are just awful. They went back 50 years on Ed Quick to dig up dirt. I can just see what their ads against Obama would look like. They would have him looking like a heroin addict. Just awful stuff that they are pulling right now.

14. But they would do this to ANY Dem, regardless of race
I'm very concerned that some Dems are already running scared from Obama, not because they disagree with his positions, but solely because he is Black and are afraid that this will cause him to lose. Yet White candidates lose all of the time, so being "un-Black" is no guarantee of succes any more than being Black is a guarantee of failure.
