TPM: Kerry and Kennedy do the right thing ...

Kerry and Kennedy do the right thing ...

Senators Edward Kennedy and John Kerry are tapping their sizable campaign warchests in an effort to elect a Democratic Congress.
The Massachusetts Democrats donated 500-thousand dollars apiece, half to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and half to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

I would have liked to have seen a million a piece. But that ain't bad.

And another point is important to make. Kerry has taken a lot of grief because he's sitting on a big pile of money and he's a very high-profile person in the Democratic party. But there a whole lot more money out there in campaign warchests of folks who aren't in anything like a serious campaign. So who else is going to put money on the table? We're under two weeks to go before the election and in only a few more days it'll be too late. Late money goes for ads. And the day before the election is just too late. So who will match Kerry and Kennedy?

he has given money, raised money, appeared at rallies, raised more money, sent out e-mail appeals to support our candidates and raised additional money, and then gave even more money and Marshall is just OK with Kerry's recent efforts? This goes to show you, sometimes, you can't do enough for some people. At least Marshall is kind enough to give Kerry and Kennedy the recognition they deserve.

4. Good point(s)
Why isn't anyone for example asking Hillary Clinton to donate a lot of her money? Everyone knows she is going to win her race but I haven't heard people marching up to her and yelling at her for holding onto all this money.

5. Clinton has 40 million she absolutely didn't need in NY. Kerry had 8 mil.
He's probably down to 7 million now, and donated or raised over 186 million to Dem candidates since the cycle began, but he's taking almost 99% of the heat from the uninformed wing of the blogosphere.

6. JK is a wizard at fundraising--
Just raised $900,000 for four important Senatorial races. That's why I give all of my contributions through his PAC--he knows the best races to put money into. He's a great asset for the party and doing it for the sake of the party--because he wants Dems and Dem policies to succeed and help Americans. Sooner or later people will realize that he's sincere and not just out for policial points.
