10. No, they don't count the votes until polls close Election Day.
Voting is really high in our county too.

Part of that is driven by the long lines (new machines and very long ballot) in the August election. This was true all over the state. Out polls closed 1 1/2 hours late and a neighboring county closed almost 4 hours late in August.

People are taking advantage of voting early to avoid long lines on Election Day. There are obviously some hotly contested races on the ballot and a couple of amendments.

5. Yeh oldtime i remember in the 2004 presidential election..
they said there was high turnout in several states and we all though it favored us but according to the media it favored the rethugs. there excuse was they got out the vote on the ground.

6. Yeah, it's true in Nashville
I went to vote yesterday, and had a tough time finding a parking place. It took about 45 minutes-- not the time savings I was hoping for, but I talked to a lady who had come the day before and had given up b/c the line was so long. There was a large number of retired people there-- don't know if that favors Dems or not. We are a blue county, though.

7. What high turnout means...
Common rule of thumb with turnout is that it favors incumbency, but that isn't going to play that way this year. Congress has such a horrible approval rating (19%--Yikes!) that turnout can only help drive out the incumbents, meaning the Repukes.

That's why GOTV is so important this year and why you *want* the Repukes to put lots of effort into GOTV--it can only hurt them.

9. Tennessee is probably the tightest race
Along with Missouri. I think Allen will win VA.

13. CNN or MSNBC reported earlier tonight
that Webb had pulled ahead. I think it was still in the MOE, but it might indicate a firming-up swing. Hope so.

12. Absentee vote used to benefit the Republicans, Higher turn-out used
to benefit democrats. Unfortunately, last few elections showed that the Repub have
either mastered the use of Churches for GOTV or the practice of ballot stuffing or
both -- resulting in high turnout with Republican wins.

15. That is exactly right
'Cause the republicans have been pushing the early voting in the churches and through the mail. I'm also worried about Ohio where this trend is overwhelming.
