The foot-in-mouth president
The president, as you know, has a knack for putting his foot in his mouth. He's done so before, and today's press conference is only the latest example. Some gems:
First of all, this is a different kind of war than a war against the fascists in World War II. We were facing a nation state - two nation states - three nation states in World War II.
Right, Professor, and you expect us to believe your summer reading list, given that answer?
... this war is an ideological conflict between a radical ideology that can't stand freedom, and moderate, reasonable people that hope to live in a peaceful society.
Wow, I could have sworn he was talking about America.
I believe the majority of people want to live in a peaceful world. That's what I believe.
Way to step out on a limb, Mr. President.
Reconciliation is difficult in a society that had been divided and tortured by a tyrant.
Yeah, no kidding.
... I understand here in Washington, some people say we're not at war. I know that. They're just wrong in my opinion.
Who? Who says we're not at war? The giant straw man you just created? Did he say that?
People do have to take responsibility for the decisions they make in life. I take responsibility for the decisions I make. I also understand that those of us in positions of responsibility have the duty to bring honor to the offices we hold. People don't have to agree with somebody's opinion, there's all kinds of opinions here. But in order to make this country work, and to make democracy succeed, there's got to be high standards, and people must be held to account to achieve those standards.
Thank you, Mr. President, for summing up what some people will never, ever grasp, and that's this: If you fail to perform to the standards we've collectively set for the job, pointing out those myriad failures isn't negative; it's patriotic. If you, as you say, pledge to bring honor to the office you hold and drastically miss the mark, you've failed in your duty. What's more, if we don't hold you to account for letting America down, we've failed in our duty.

1. Well done, BobcatJH
Great structure.

I would have just killed myself before I could have typed that transcript of the fool's exhortations.

6. Like a bad Monty Python skit: "On one conditon. Two! conditions,
Ok. Three. Three conditions, and then we'll get the comfy chair.

"We were facing a nation state - two nation states - three nation states in World War II."
