Video of Dean and Campbell on MSNBC this morning.
I don't see a transcript yet, but it was an excellent interview.

http://video.msn.com/v/us/msnbc.htm?g=9b9b94e7-745d-4f6b-a0a8-a6526b0aad9b&f=00&fg=email

Her insistence was "where is the plan"? He told her that there would be no plan with crossed t's and dotted i's until after the election, though they were all coming together on a general one...the redeploy one. Need a transcript for more details.

Her rather snide..."not getting along because of the 50 state plan" just did not work with him. He said we are all getting along just fine and went on to explain how he was putting 10 times more into races than the DNC did in 02. He gave a smile.

Her "why won't you debate Mehlman" stuff, which is making Mehlman whine like a baby got a response. Dean said he wanted to talk about issues and did not want so much confrontation in interviews..not good for people. He said if he debated Mehlman it might be more like gladiatorial contests. Another smile.

Good interview.

1. I was glad he held his ground about joint interviews
Horsey-Face Mehlman is such a mic pig and cross-talker (and the hosts are SO deferential to him) that it doesn't do Dr. Dean ANY good to do joint appearances. Maybe with an RNC chairman who's a bit more polite, it might work, but with Mehlman, forget it.

5. Yes, they are deferential to Mehlman.
You are right. They let him spout talking points all the time. Now and then someone asks a tough question, but he lies and they let it pass.

& at about 2:20 into the inerview she asks 'time?' then shuffles papers - she wasn't paying attention nor was she listening to him...I'm glad he blew her off - I'm not discussing that (plan) w/ msnbc.

She had her questions/agebda made up for her and she had to follow it. I'd like to slap her.

7. Dean said goal of this election is to force Bush to change course.
"we should impose on a willful administration which is determined to stay the course....a different course. That's what this election is about, both regaining our moral footing in the world, in terms of being tough and smart in defending America. Not just talk tough at election time."

That's rough draft, not far into the interview. Campbell was so busy imposing her own talking points it was hard to him to get words in.

She kept harping about being specific... her harpy voice kept getting higher pitched. Give me details she said...specifics.

Dean finally said let's see how the election goes, if we win the leadership will decide that, not him....and he said he was not about to give details on MSNBC two weeks before the election.

She is just plain nasty. The right wing bloggers love her. They think she punked Dean about Mehlman....they are so out of it they don't know Mehlman has no class. He is probably in legal troubles, but like all the other Republicans they just keep their mugs on TV in spite of it.
