White House is 2 weeks behind in signing statement releases
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 01:37 PM by grizmaster
I checked all the way back to the beginning of bush's term and they've never missed putting out the pres. docs every Monday.

Now it's been two Mondays in a row with no release (as is required by law).

Could it be bush is hiding the signing statement on the War Criminals Protection Act until after Nov 7th? I think we all know the answer to that one.

3. I came across the law recently
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 02:29 PM by grizmaster
Just went searching for it now and can't find it again.

The law basically calls for timely release of certain government records and the declarations, signed laws, and signing statements fall into that category.

it's related to this law I believe. The reporting to the Fed Register is required by law, and then the Registry is required to publish it.

(a) If the order or proclamation is signed by the President, the original and two copies shall be forwarded to the Director of the Federal Register for publication in the Federal Register.

Here are the general provisions for the Registry to give you an idea of what it's like finding the particular regulation if you don't know the specific title.

2. The Decider
Maybe he did a signing statement that says he doesn't need to release them anymore, he is the Decider.
