Traveled weekend thru NC, SC, Georgia. GOP candidate signs have no symbol

that associates their name with the Republican party in NC and Georgia. Only in northern SC were there any references to being Republican candidates.

I also spent time Saturday and Sunday with alot of military personnel and vets - one a war historian. Three younger men were in Iraq, one due to go back, one still trying to save a leg that they are petty sure is heading for amputating.

There was not ONE GOOD WORD said about Bush and his strategy. The war historian said Iraq is the worst strategized war they have ever witnessed going back to WW2.

Almost every one of the near two dozen vets I spoke with were combat pilots from WW2, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq1.

And most were voters in the HEART of Georgia - Barnesville, Yatesville, Griifin, and surrounding areas, and some hailing from SC.

Interesting time spent in the heart of the south.

Even at the Representative to the State House level. I just got a flyer from Kevin Coughlin (first appointed to office in 2001 that does not mention the Republican party anywhere. When I checked his website it was the same story there.

state? Or is Washington pretty much a split state?

4. I'm in NE GA and the Republicans have ceased IDing themselves as GOP

candidates or incumbants. One really has to listen, look and read carefully in order to determine the party affiliationf these people. I don't ever rmember it being like this before Bush II. :(

7. Georgia one time known as one of the solid south

I left the state in 1949, born and raised in Fayette/Spalding County. At that time you knew who was going to win when the primary was held. Solid Democrat..Rep. didn't stand a chance. The Primary dedided who would be on the ticket, and you then knew who the winner was in the coming election...nothing but a democrat.

Democratic candidates say Democrat on their signs-repukes only have their name. they must be ashamed or something-two years ago they all had GOP or Republican plastered all over their signs.

However, it must be pointed out that Democratic candidates have not been noting party affilation on their signs for a while in these parts, and still don't. That the Republicans are now resorting to such low end deception certainly points to a significant loss of brand approval but it doesn't seem to translate into gains for the Democratic Party. Most that I talk to are pretty much sick of the whole lot.

Look for 3rd party gains in the talley this year.

11. In Cherokee County where I live in North Georgia

none of the candidate signs have a party affiliation on them because there are only Republicans running. We have no Democrats in office in the county seats.
