Dean supporters: Dean's VP Comments - what do you think?
Asked by radio station WMCS whether he would accept the vice presidential slot, Dean replied, "I would, to the extent, do anything I could to get rid of President Bush. I'll do whatever is best for the party. Obviously, I'm running for president, but whatever's best is what I'll do. Anything." -CNN http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/02/07/elec04.prez.dean/index.html

Thoughts? Musings?

I for one would love to see Dean a part of the next administration in any way. President, VP, Secretary of State, anything....

1. we all know that other people, not bush
actually run the country. For Dean to have any position that would affect how things were done behind the scenes would be fabulous. Bridges are built by many people who never get the glory. Look at the Hoover Dam for instance.

I would like to see Dean become the VP as long as it's not Kerry. For obvious reasons: First off it isn't viable geographically, second they for the most part hate each other, third I wouldn't want Dean to sully his good name by co-mingling with Kerry.

EDIT: I wouldn't rule out a cabinet position however. As long as Dean doesn't jump on board too early. He should wait to make any such announcement until sometime AFTER the convention. That will give Kerry time to learn to stand on his own two feet and let us see if he's going to sink or swim. I have a feeling he's going to sink but that's just me.

3. I support the notion of doing anything to get rid of Bush
But if the nominee of the Dem party is in fact Kerry (not a done deal, but certainly a distinct possibility now), then there's no chance that Dean will be the VP. None. Two New Englanders running together would be a disaster.

I'm not saying that it's right, but them's the facts.

However, I too would love to see Dean remain on the national stage in some occupation. Just as the Repugs have McCain, a relatively straight shooter even if I disagree with him on a number of issues, we need Dean to speak the basic truths that too many Dem pols are unwilling to speak. It is only after Dean speaks these truths do other Dems follow suit. I admire that simple, straightforward courage.

Regardless to how the primaries turn out, I tip my hat to the sincerity and audaciousness of Governor Howard Dean. Bravo and please keep it up.

4. I think that Dean's supporters who are saying . . .
they won't vote for Kerry if he is the nominee should listen to the good doctor and heed his words . . .

5. Despite Dean's Reputation for a Political Tin Ear
this was a very smart political response.

I would be thrilled at this point to have Dean as a VP to Kerry. It would do wonders for party unity at a time when it's badly needed. And it would keep Dean in the national mix. He's a special person, and I would like to see him play a role in taking back the country.

6. I hope the NBD-ers are paying attention
that was the classy thing to say - and there's no reason to believe it wasn't sincere.
