Thanks to all those who helped with the first. It was published and received a good response; however, this week I came under fire. Here is my response
Letter to the Editor:
I always get a good laugh out of Governor Ehrlich’s supporters who care so deeply about Baltimore City and its residents in an election year, but are nowhere to be found in the off years. But hey, I guess Governor Ehrlich needs two sets of supporters to go with his two personalities (election year and non-election year).
On school passing requirements – Where was the outrage from Mr. Coleman and Governor Ehrlich when Fredrick County lowered their passing requirements to the level also held by 21 other counties across the state? The double standard presented by Mr. Coleman and Governor Ehrlich is beyond amazing.
On BGE – The questions Mr. Coleman and all Maryland residents should be asking are, where was the Governor, where was the PSC, and most importantly where were the public hearings? The Governor and his rubber stamp PSC failed. That is why Baltimore City and Mayor O’Malley stepped up and defeated the 72% rate increase.
Mr. Coleman, the manipulation accusations really need to be laid to rest. Numerous publications including the Washington Post and WBAL-TV have concluded that there is no evidence to back these claims, only rumors. Rumors generated by the same administration that brought us Joe Steffen and his sleazy and unjustified rumors, but what else can we expect from an administration that is on the ropes and on its way out?
Mr. Beatty, it seems to me you have a problem with the Superintendent of the Maryland State Police, not with me or the Mayor, because if you take the time to read Col. Hutchins’ letter you will find the exact wording used after reviewing Baltimore’s crime statistics was in fact – VALIDATED. I can provide a copy of the letter and a dictionary if you like. I never claimed an audit was conducted; I only passed along the same terminology used by Col. Hutchins.
In closing I will end with a quote from our Governor – “Without us, you are done.” That is the mentality we are facing. A mentality of divide and conquer, a mentality of us vs. them. It’s time for change ladies and gentleman. On November 7th, choose hope and passion, not division and fear. Choose O’Malley/Brown.
