Hard to believe..bad news on Senate races from Zogby/WSJ
Edited on Thu Oct-19-06 01:00 PM by cally
The latest Wall Street Journal/Zogby Interactive polls show Republicans on track to keep control of the U.S. Senate, though many races remain tight.

There are 18 polls in all, but here are the highlights from the closest contests:

Connecticut: Lieberman (I) leads Lamont (D), 49% to 43%
Maryland: Cardin (D) leads Steele (R), 51% to 43%
Missouri: Talent (R) leads McCaskill (D), 50% to 47%
New Jersey: Kean (R) leads Menendez (D), 47% to 45%
Ohio: Brown (D) leads DeWine (R), 49% to 45%
Pennsylvania: Casey (D) leads Santorum (R), 52% to 44%
Tennessee: Corker (R) leads Ford (D), 49% to 42%
Virginia: Allen (R) leads Webb (D), 49% to 46%

2. Zogby's not that accurate
It's still within MOE for all.

8. I disagree - usually zogby has been pretty close
Hence their wide MOE...

3. The Senate races are really tough
The Democrats have to almost sweep the deck to take control. I am not optimistic!

4. Virginia's race: Allen's lead is within the margin of error
You can believe that we will do all we can in our little part of the state to get Jim Web elected. I have his bumper sticker on the upper middle window of my van between the Retired USMC "Semper Fi" and "US Army" stickers.

Many veterans are supporting Webb, even some of the disenfranchised republican type.

5. How does Zogby
compare to other polls? And if this is an online poll isn't it questionable how accurate it is?

7. I'm not sure, but there is many questions about the interactive polls
since it's a new type of polling. What I've heard is that SUSA is better at local polling.

9. Zogby's online polls from 2004 were all over the place
unless there are some polls from other sources that have similar numbers, I would not put
much stock into them.

10. I find this hard to believe on MO
These are 2 of the most recent polls previous to this:

MCCASKILL HAS 5-POINT LEAD. Claire McCaskill is leading Jim Talent, 48% - 43% in a new DSCC poll, a 5-point surge since late September. McCaskill and Talent were tied at 44 just two weeks ago. Bennett, Petts & Blumenthal conducted the survey among 800 registered voters from October 9 to October 11, 2006. The margin of error was 3.5%.
http://www.dscc.org/news/roundup/20061013_mccaskillpoll /

McCaskill 51% Talent 42% +/-4.5% SurveyUSA 10/12/06
http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReportPopup.aspx?g=...

So, Zogby's saying that Talent's gained 8 to 12 points in the last week? :eyes:

11. Thank you...I thought these numbers seemed off
Others have indicated that the interactive polls are not that accurate. It seems too weird that Senate races would flip to Reps. when the House races are going Dem.

12. Posted At Other Thread.... These Do Seem A Bit OFF, However
they are the latest numbers I've seen. The other links I have aren't as current. I see NOTHING anywhere on my local race here in Sarasota County! I know what local polls show, but nothing very up to date at any of the other sites I've been using.

The IDIOT is coming here on the 24th to campaign for Buchanan! I would LOVE to go and DEMONSTRATE, but haven't heard where he will ACTUALLY be. But then again, I don't think I could stand even "looking" and El-SmirkleRoy!!!
