Right now we have three guys (mainly) splitting up the non-Kerry supporters' votes. I think Kerry will continue to win from here on out until someone else drops out.

I'm not a Kerry supporter, but the voters of Iowa found Kerry on their own. The momentum may have affected other primaries, but no one would be complaining if it was their candidate.

I think at DU we have to recognize all the Dean and Clark and especially DK supporters don't represent most Democrats. Most Democrats like traditional Dems like Kerry and moderates like Edwards.

Leaving unqualified statements around just makes you look dumb. Pessimists rarely get off their asses to work, either, and that's what ANY victory in November, landslide, close, whatever, will take.

is probably John Kerry. A gaffe, or a major scandalous/controversial revelation about his record or personal history(i.e., something to impeach his "electablity") is probably the only thing that could derail his candidacy.

The only other thing--A Clark/Edwards double win in Tennessee and Virginia, followed by a squeaker plurality win for Dean in Wisconsin--would probably put a halt to the pundits' "inevitability" talk.

And then Edwards(or Clark) could rack up some Southern or Western state wins in March, and Dean could use his new war chest to win a few, and we'd most likely have a brokered convention.

The real "bitter end" is by no means longer than mid-March(Florida). After that, whoever is on top will either have clinched, or will be so far ahead that no one else is likely to win the nomination at convention.

Plus, Edwards and Clark will likely have spent up to the limit by that point, if they're still in it.

They should have a "loser leave town" agreement for whoever wins those two southern states.

Dean will probably withdraw after Wisconsin (maybe sooner after today's Afscme news), so that would leave only Edwards or Clark left against Kerry.
