What if James Baker III is the OCTOBER SURPRISE ?
So many big newspapers are eating up the story. Smart, sensible James Baker III is on the scene, suggesting a smart, sensible strategy for dealing with the quagmire in Iraq. W. has to listen to him, right? He always listens to the people with the best advise, like his dad and Colin Powell. So all you moderate Republicans out there who have been thinking about staying home this election to protest the fact that W. lied to get us into Iraq and now pig headedly refuses to get us out of the civil war---you guys come on out and vote to keep Congress Republican so that your president can follow James Baker III's advise and end this war in a timely manner.

Forget what Woodward told you about Henry "The War Criminal" Kissinger having W. and Cheney's ear. Forget that he said that we lost the war in VietNam because we lost our will. W. doesn't believe in that macho bullcrap anymore. No sirree! He is reformed now. No more Commander-in-Chief for him. No more "mission accomplished" and jet plane rides. He wants to spend his last two years in office relaxing in the rose garden, playing with the dog, polishing up his legacy. From now on its all diplomacy with North Korea and tax cuts.

Really. We mean it. Would Karl Rove lie to you, just to get your vote?

2. Bringing in Baker at the last minute didn't help Bush I in 1992
Won't help now

3. Yep. And the surprise could be that Baker's supposed to
usher * out of power, since the powers that be got what they needed from him, i.e. Iraq.

4. People are hip to Baker. They know he's a BFEE 'fixer'.
Having him come on the scene is a reason for anxiety, not a reason to feel like things are going to be under control anytime soon.

5. could follow baker's advice
no matter who controls congress...

if the repubs really want to win big and have a big october surprise -- all they have to do is to start calling for bush/cheney impeachment.. but they won't, they only have one rubberstamp and it says "Yes, Mr. President...whatever you want"
