Sources: Union Withdraws Support for Dean
Sources: Union Tells Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean It Will Withdraw Support for Presidential Bid

The Associated Press

RICHMOND, Va. Feb. 7 — The head of a major union that gave an early boost to Howard Dean's presidential campaign told the former Vermont governor on Saturday that he would withdraw his union's support, dealing a major blow to the Democrat's faltering campaign, The Associated Press has learned.
Gerald McEntee, president of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, delivered the news in a meeting with two other unions whose support has been propping up Dean's campaign, said two Democratic officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

1. If they do I hope their members rip them a new one
rats jumping ship or being bought by the DNC/DLC machine. I am beginning to see them as much as the enemy as the RNC

2. Geez, get real!
Why in the world do you people see any(every)thing that doesn't support Dean as an evil?

4. Not evil, just pathetic
They got totally dissed by their own guy (Gephart, throwing Iowa to Kerry), and then they seemed fairly ineffectual in delivering anything for Dean. Now they look like sad band wagon jumpers switching to Kerry.

3. Who would want union support after this?
Hard won, but lost in a heartbeat? If the result is to make you look worse, why would you ever trust them not to stab you in the back?

I hate action without foresight. A baby could tell you the unions are the ones that will hurt from this.

They've just horribly diminished their own power.

I'd oust the idiot who pulled this garbage. He has the brains of a Bush.

5. Very sad
It seems that no one in this country means what they say anymore. When you plegde support it is suppose to be commitment that says :We stand behind you" but apparently it's not anymore. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. The weak jump ship. My aunt says to me all the time "Say what you mean and MEAN what you say". Wouldn't it be nice if the rest of the country did just that!
