Caucus report
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 07:28 PM by Bozola

37th Seattle

We had a turnout like I've never seen there. For a small neighborhood we probably had 750-1000 people at the caucus. Mostly Dean, judging from the the stickers people were wearing. Interestingly enough, I didn't see a single sign for Kerry anywhere in the building, though there were a number of his supporters. I'd have to say that the representation of supporters was, in order, Dean, Kucinich, Kerry, Clark, and Edwards.

I kept hearing two statements over and over again. "<Insert name here> can't beat Bush" and "Anybody but Bush", often uttered by the same person. "Electability" as an issue is bullshit. In reality, the people of this country are ALL so fed up with Commander Bunnypants that we Democrats could nominate Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog of February fame, and win. Let's get bloody real here, shall we?

Anyhoo....

One of the important things the Republicans are NOT going to like is that we were all united. There wasn't a single person who voiced that they would not support the nominee. There was no dissention, everyone was in a great mood, and my whole neighborhood is now planning a barbeque for this summer. What fun!

My own precinct has four delegates, the voting ended up

2 - Dean
1 - Kerry
1 - Edwards (It was a tie with Dennis for a while, but the Edwards supporters were adamant and swayed the uncommitted).

My beautiful wife is now a delegate, and I an an alternate.

Rah rah Dean!
