Bush has pretty much ignored NYS since elected..(Damn Yankees) Last week's early snow storm caused much disastor..So his royal hindness has approved 5 million in aid to WNY..Guess whose district it completely covers..Reynolds..and you can bet it will a part of his ads..

3. Heard last week on Hardball IIRC. Matthews was gleeful
that the snowstorm was going to be Tom Reynolds "blessing" because #1) It changed the topic from his involvement in the Foley affair, and #2) Bush was helping him out with big bucks so he could be a good guy...in his very own district to boot!. (OK, a paraphrased summary but that's the gist of it).

4. Wow. I saw Tweets on that show and didn't think
he was 'gleeful' at all. Seemed to me had a 'duh' moment, saying Reynolds, with the help of Pataki, prayed for this storm to get the attention off the Foley story.
My impression is that Tweety is pretty fed up with what's been going down (no pun intended!) with the rethugs.

5. Well, I just have a hard time cutting Matthew's much slack anymore
So, when I say 'gleeful' it's because he always gets excited when GOP plays dirty politics. I agree that (at times) he seems fed up, but it doesn't stop him from drooling over the Cons while taking every opportunity to bash Democrats.

hrumpf...Sorry, Matthews makes me grumpy.

2. Don't worry, the voters will never get one red cent of that money...
it will go to a no-bid contract for Halliburton with a 10 percent finders fee to the RNC.

6. Well, I know when the Action News reporter mentioned it last night,
he kinda chuckled to himself. Wonder what he was thinking - that it was a drop in the bucket or money changing hands.

9. I think you're over-reacting -- Democrats sought that aid, too
Yes, Reynolds district is in the area hit by last week's storm. But the area hit also includes parts of the districts represented by Louise Slaughter and Brian Higgins, both Democrats, and both asked for a presidential disaster declaration and aid.

Such aid is fairly routine in this sort of major weather emergency.

10. Interestingly enough we had floods in the Southeastern counties
this spring..Federal aid didn't enter the picture. And no over-reacting isn't the case as I will report back when Reynolds ads starts with the "I did it, look I did it.."

11. I think you're wrong about the federal aid for the spring floods
Areas of eight counties in New York were declared a federal disaster area after this spring's floods -- areas represented by both Democrats and repubs.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/07/20060701-1.html

Again, I don't doubt that Reynolds will claim credit for getting aid for his constituents. Slaughter and Higgins can and should do so as well. In fact, all three already have mention of their efforts in requesting aid up on their websites. My point is that there is no conspiracy here. Declaring federal disaster areas in the case of severe weather events like the Buffalo snowstorm or this spring's floods is routine.

12. I hear cable is going to be out until November. It'll be interesting to
see how that's going to affect this race. Reynolds's millions aren't going to be able to buy him TV time.
