FREEPERVILLE RACIST COMMENTS ABOUT OBAMA
I put on the HAZMAT Suit and set off on my once per month excursion to Freeperville to see what the Brown Shirts are up to. I don't know why I am shocked by their comments, but this is pretty nasty. Below is a sampler, the entire list of comments are at the link. Hold your nose and don't say I didn't warn you. Also, I copied the quotes DIRECTLY so any spelling errors or grammar problems are those of the Freepschoolers.

Black US Senator not ruling out White House Bid - Barack Obama

To: Arizona Carolyn
What is with the press and their love for Obama? I just don't get it. What has he accomplished that makes his capable of being President of this great country?
I hear ya. Beats me.

he only African-American currently serving in the US Senate. his mom's white...I guess there's no problem any more with the one drop rule.("Klaatu Barada Nikto")

To: Extremely Extreme Extremist
All I can figure is this is something dreamed up by lefty journalists, the man isn't even handsome.... and it has nothing to do with being black, there is a lot of very handsome black men, he doesn't happen to be one. If he was drop-dead gorgeous then maybe there would at least be some explanation for the love affair with the man, but in lieu of having that going for him, and having heard him talk, I'm less than impressed with the man. He's down the scale in John Kerry land (IMO).by Arizona Carolyn

*this one is particularly scary*

Osama is black? In the old days, he is what we (black or white) would have referred to as "high yellow." *nice*by Clemenza (Lets Go Mets!!!)

To: DB
I don't understand the appeal.
He's young. He's articulate. He's a father and apparently faithful husband. If you're a black, female voter...he has appeal. by paulat

To: blondee123
His father and step-father were Muslims. He was also Muslim at birth but converted according to him at a very early age. His grandfather was involved with the Mau-Mau in Africa. He was reared by his white mother and family in Hawaii. It was my understanding that there was no such thing as an ex-muslim. Once a Muslim, always a Muslim.

I don't like him.

I don't trust him.

He's too slick and reminds me of 'slick willie'.

Black Arab US senator not ruling out White House run
He's half Arab, so why isn't he "Arab"? His grandparents were Muslim. His father was a member of a dictatorial African regime. His background is far from clean, yet the media will not touch it.

4. This also brings home what the Republican party is all about
Those jerks would never vote for Colin Powell. Oh, they will SAY that they will. But when it come time to pull the lever, touch the screen, etc., the cold hard facts remain - They will NEVER vote for an African American. period.

I wish the rank and file reporters in our country would do the following. The next time they report on a Klan rally or a "God hates Fags" picnic, I wish they would ask who they support for president. You know what the answer will be. And that should be broadcast loud and clear to the American public.

I listen to the Howard Stern show sometimes and he always asks kooks like that if they support Bush - and they always do.:banghead:

6. It's a racist term originating from Confederate times
If a child was biracial, he/she was referred to as High Yellow. In the movie Hairspray, there is a reference to that term. The movie is, of course, goofing on people who use that term. But it is hateful nonetheless.

9. Not just biracial, there's a lightskinned requirement associated with the
term as well. Not all biracial people have an equal mix of the skin tones of both parents.

Then there's the term "Pinky" which is more affectionate, and often a nickname.

I haven't heard that term used since the days of segregation, really....

27. Great. More proof I was raised as a racist.
I have never seen or heard the term "high yellow" used anywhere but my home while growing up in Texas. I never thought it was a racially-charged term, but a simple descriptor of skin color (like "olive" being used to describe my skin tone).

Now I find out today it is not a neutral term. Great.

What pisses me off is that I picked up on those terms as non-racial only to find out 20 years later they are hateful terms. It is not the first time, and probably not the last. Thanks, mom.

28. No you weren't. It wasn't always considered racist or insulting
It was, at one time, considered simply descriptive. In fact, the first time I heard the term was in the black community, as a simple descriptive phrase to differentiate two fellows who shared the same name. It's evolved into an insult, or at least, a 'questionable' term, over time, simply because of the complete stupidity of the concept that 'lighter' meant 'better.'

TRIVIA: The song "The Yellow Rose of Texas" is about a fair skinned woman of African ancestry. Most yee-hawers singing it don't realize that, though!!! They've screwed with the original lyrics so that once-plain fact is obscured:

33. I was thinking of the Yellow Rose of Texas
As I read thru this thread.

Also in the old song "Sixteen Tons" (Tennesee Ernie Ford, among others), the singer says "Ain't no high-tone woman make me walk the line." High-tone is another version of high-yellow, and "high-tone" women were considered to have more power, be harder to control, more head-strong, etc.

I don't think the terms were always meant as racist, except to the extent that pretty much everything back then had racist overtones.

42. Yep, both songs are sorta "Pat Booned" over....
The original "Yellow Rose" would have them fainting in the aisles, regardless of race...the terminology wouldn't fly, nowadays, though it didn't merit a blink from anyone back in its heyday.

Even the most ardent racist wouldn't dare bellow that song's original lyrics outside of an historic, very scholarly reenactment in full costume, nowadays.

34. I'm a Texan - don't feel bad - what matters is what is in your heart
I was raised and still live in the Great State of Texas. My grandmother tossed around the more polite term "colored" and considered herself a real progressive FDR democrat. But to her credit, during the sixties, she shopped at African American markets, etc. in East Texas despite the complaints of her fairer neighbors and she sent her kids, including my dad to integrated schools when it wasn't the "proper" thing to do. So, you can't help where you came from. And as long as you don't have that hatefulness in your heart, you should not be ashamed.

20. There were plenty of other terms, too.
America had all sorts of terms to describe various phenotypes. This was hilariously sent up in the clever film Fear of a Black Hat, which was far more than just a Spinal Tap knock-off:

That ain't your average garden-variety, run-of-the-mill gangster bullshit. Y'all hardcore. But you got an edge. I mean, just look at you three brothers. Just look at you. Together.

You. You little black, stove-pipe-colored nigga, Tasty. You are the same complexion as Marcus Garvey... who brought self-love to the black consciousness movement in the 20s.

And when we speak about complexion... we move into the political perspective of where y'all coming from.

You, lce. You a high-yellow, piss-colored motherfucker. Same complexion as Bob Marley. You even got that dreadlock thing going for you. You could even move into the whole Rasta thing, if you wanted to. But that's another story.

And you. You good, red-boned, morani-colored... genie-in-a-bottle-looking motherfucker. You're the same complexion as Malcolm X. That's right. Take off your hat.

Red hair! Just like Malcolm.

Boy, I'm telling you, you brothers are going to be large! Like I said, you got to be careful. Because you're telling the truth and the white man don't want you all saying what you're saying. Because when you take that bus, you get there.

Because I'm treading on potentially treacherous ground here, I want to explain why I think the above quote is so funny. The observations are being made by an old musician who apparently thinks he can tell what people are capable of by the way they look. He then goes on to drag out an array of embarassing old stereotypes to support his idea, as the rap band in question winces painfully. What the old man is saying is offensive and divisive, but it's also positive and complimentary, and the protagonists don't really know what to make of it.

16. ''High Yellow'' means a very light-skinned Black person
Edited on Mon Oct-16-06 02:19 AM by Xeno of Elia
It is/was commonly used in the South to refer to Black people with the lightest skin pigmentation. The term is usually used in a derogatory manner.

It is obvious that the freeper quoted here is using it as a derogatory term, presumably because s/h/it doesn't approve of "race mixing" or thinks Obama is getting uppity.

12. I love the "Mau-Mau" reference.
As if at any moment, Obama, on the floor of the senate, will rip off his suit, exposing a leopard-skin loincloth, ram a bone through his nose, pull a machete out from his briefcase and proceed to start lopping off heads and grilling their livers over a Bic lighter.

Come to think of it, it might be a constructive way of dealing with the right side of the aisle. Nothing else seems to work. ;-)

Dear God, those people are the largest collection of Village Idiots, in one place, in the history of mankind.

21. The Mau Mau charge sounds like a total fabrication based on the fact
that Obama's father was Kenyan and the Mau Mau was a Kenyan resistance organization against the British. First of all, there is no evidence that I know of of Obama Sr.'s participation in the organization. Secondly, Obama Sr. was of the Luo tribe, according to this web bio http://www.biography.com/search/article.do?id=12782369. The Luo generally were not part of the Mau Mau, it was mostly Kikuyu with some lesser participation by the Embu and Meru. It is unlikely that many Luo would have been involved. I also know of no evidence that Obama Sr. was part of any Kenyan government. As for there being no such thing as an ex-Muslim, that is just ignorant.

Like I said before, even though I live in this South and this should not surprise me, it really knocked the wind out of me. I posted it because a lot of people out there, even Republicans that I live around, would never believe this or own up to it. But here it is. This is not something the RNC wants to get out into the MSM because it will bring them down. (even though the RNC depends on these yahoos to vote for them) I want the MSM to shine the light on these cockroaches. And every time there is a KKK rally or some George Alan supporters waving their stupid stars and bars, the reporter should stick microphones in their faces and ask them who they support for president. Do it enough and they are gone. :dem:
