Chris Wallace to interview Rice / Let's see how "fair & balanced" he is
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 01:28 PM by Contrary1
Just received this email:

A few weeks ago, President Bill Clinton was grilled by Fox News host Chris Wallace about what his administration did to eliminate Osama bin Laden. President Clinton forcefully defended his record and took Wallace to task for not asking the same tough questions of senior Bush administration officials.

This Sunday, Wallace will interview Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. With your help, we can get him to confront Rice with the tough questions he has so far refused to ask.

Tell Chris Wallace to ask Secretary Rice the hard questions about their efforts to eliminate Osama bin Laden prior to 9/11.

Here's the question we think Chris Wallace should ask:

Prior to 9/11, you had eight months to respond to the Al Qaeda attack on the U.S.S. Cole. Why didn't the Bush administration take action and put Al Qaeda out of business?

Wallace told President Clinton that he asked about his administration’s response to the U.S.S. Cole attack because he “got a lot of e-mail from viewers.” Now it’s our turn to send Wallace a message.

Tell Chris Wallace to ask Condi the tough questions.

During the past five years, Vice President Cheney, Defense Secretary Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Rice, and National Security Advisor Hadley have appeared on Fox News Sunday 42 times, and he hasn’t asked them a single question about their failure to retaliate for the Cole bombings.

This imbalance is reminiscent of recent attempts by conservative ideologues to rewrite the facts of September 11 for political gain, as exemplified by ABC's recent “docudrama” The Path to 9/11. September 11 is too important to play politics with the facts.

Tell Chris Wallace to ask Condi the tough questions.

We will be watching Chris Wallace this weekend and will report back on what he asks. We hope Secretary Rice answers questions about the briefing she received from CIA Director George Tenet on July 10, 2001 about a looming Al Qaeda attack inside the United States. We also hope that she levels with the american people about what the Bush administration did and did not do in the lead-up to 9/11.

Thanks for your help,

Judd Legum and the entire Center for American Progress Action Fund team

1. Ask her what priorities she/they had before 9/11?
Will she fail to mention they concentrated of anti-ballistic missile systems that didn't work and went after prostitutes in NO.

That's probably why bush neglected to save all those people. He figured they were probably mostly prostitutes and welfare people and deserved what they got. He figured the flood was a gift from God to give them a hand in cleaning out NO. But, God didn't do a very good job...did he?

2. I want him to ask her to state the actions the administration took after
her meeting with Tenent on July 10, 2001.

4. Me too -- maybe the briefing Asscroft received is why he stopped
flying commercial in the months before 9/11. I always thought that was an eerie "coincidence" (which probably wasn't).

5. Of course Chris Wallace is going to ask Rice the hard question.
He's going to ask Rice why Clinton failed to "do more" during his presidency to put Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden "out of business."

6. Here's a few questions:
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 02:18 PM by David Zephyr
1.) Are the families of the 600,000 dead civilians better off since the U.S. invasion?

2.) The New York Sun has now reported that James Baker's commission has determined that "victory" in Iraq is not possible and that the U.S. can not impose a democracy there and that it is time for us to contain and "re-deploy" our troops out of Iraq, which is what Congressman John Murtha recommended earlier this year to great criticism from you, Ms. Rice. Since Baker's recommendation is exactly the same as Congressman Murtha's, will you also accuse the former Secretary of State of wanting to "cut and run"? And if not, don't you think you owe a real apology to Congressman Murtha?

3.) Why would a gold-star commission's findings and recommendations for a "new course" instead of your "stay the course" policy in Iraq be withheld from the American public until, as White House Spokesman Tony Snow says, "until after the election". Don't the American people and the families of our military deserve to hear Baker's report now? Isn't withholding it until after the election politically manipulative and protective of an already unpopular President?

8. Remember FAUX News, like all M$M, is about money and profits
If the money is now going to be in attacking the GOP, they will, they give a shit about the party and the country and the church...etc.

Fake News will fake it again.

9. No!
They are idealogically conservative. It dilutes the facts to call all MSM money launderers. Could someone pay you enough to be a conservative?

10. "Could someone pay you enough to be conservative?"
To be perfectly honest, probably. And I think anyone that says differently is filthy rich or a liar.

Sure, I, like a conservative, would sound like a drunken idiot when trying to defend my positions but at least I'd be getting paid for it.

15. I think that's true
The only ones who follow all their BS are a rapidly shrinking core of "true believers", bitter enders and the truly deluded.

16. Do You Reaaaalllllllyyyy Think He Would Ask A Tough Question?
The guy is a Right Wing MORON Spinster.

He may ask something, but she won't bother answering it in a straightforward manner, and then they'll move onto the next one.

17. He'll ask, she'll fudge, he'll accept that answer and ask another.
It's not enough for him to merely ask tough questions.

19. I look forward to Wallace's prefacing any such question ....
... with a fairly long monologue laying-out perceived failures of the Bush Admin prior to 9/11, and him telling Condi to wait for him to ask the question before interrupting.

It wasn't so much Wallace's question(s) that were the problem, it was how he posed them and his behavior throughout the interview that demonstrated his bias.

Wallace started his "why didn't you catch bin Laden?" questioning off by prefacing his initial question with a laundry list of Right Wing spin and lies on what happened in the 8 years prior to 9/11. Wallace didn't approach the interview as a journalist trying to ferret out truth, he was coming from the profitable land of Right Wing propaganda.
