it seems highly probable to me that at least some of the names of the hijackers we're told were on these planes were actually stolen IDs or unknown persons who borrowed someone else's identity to get on these planes
assuming there is any logic to it at all, could be that the thinking is, if we question the other folks traveling by these names, eventually we'll find out the story of how the 911 hijackers got these particular passports to use (were they stolen or actually loaned by someone who wanted to help the cause, whatever)
on the other hand, assuming there is any logic at dept of homeland security is a fairly big stretch, since these are the guys who think stopping everybody with a passport issued in the name of bob johnston and ed kennedy is going to put a stop to terra
i don't got to hear it on franken, my husband is on the list
it seems like nonsense to me but it's obvious each time when he's detained that they are looking for a physical description that matches his name/passport -- his passport has never been stolen but he has a very common name shared by millions and probably also easy to remember for use as an alias also -- it's fortunate in his case that he clearly doesn't match the description, however, it still takes 1-2 hours to clear whenever he flies
