2. It couldn't have been. Furthermore, it makes Bush look BAD.
Failed foreign policies (no surprise there!).

3. Where are the PICTURES?
Without pictures, and without a report of radiation (Fearless NK Leader says there is none because they cleverly managed to "contain" it) it's just talking heads flapping their gums on the tee vee.

We Americans NEEEEEEEED "scary pictures" to get the point across, otherwise we'd much rather listen to salacious talk of perversion and predation--even when we were supposed to be a-skeered of Osama, we had footage of 'terrists on Monkeybars' to go with the Nine Wun Wun footage.

What if the story devolves to tons of dyn-o-mite in a coal mine, designed to make a big BOOM and get the whole world looking at that short, pomaded, high heeled attention whore? The one in North Korea, that is....

5. If the Dems get their act together and play this right ...
Edited on Sun Oct-08-06 11:39 PM by BattyDem
it could be a disaster for BushCo!

Think about it ... he designated three countries as the "Axis of Evil" - Iraq, Iran and North Korea. Then he cut off diplomacy with all three of those countries. He invaded Iraq for no good reason and it's a disaster! Because of that invasion, Iran and North Korea got a bit "jumpy" and started making noise about nukes. Iran is trying to acquire them; North Korea is now testing them. Make no mistake - this is a direct result of BushCo's military action and diplomatic inaction.

Repeat it again and again: It's Bush's fault! Bush caused this. One "axis of evil" country is a haven for terrorists, one now has nukes and the third is making an effort to get nukes ... all because of Bush. We are less safe because of Bush. IT'S BUSH'S FAULT!!!

12. From the Freeper Page
That is right. This falls at the feet at Clinton. The SOB and Albright failed us here. They can kiss these elections goodbye now. Repubs will hammer it home every chance they have that Clinton gave them the technology for the nuclear power, yet never followed up to make sure they did not enrich uranium. Plus Clinton did nothing of AQ Khan that was giving the NK's nuke plans.

9. If it happened, it in no way helps Repugs.
Wonder how many of 'em ever mentioned North Korea? Bet it was damn few. Asleep at the switch. Buh-bye. And I think National Security thanks to the evil luck we're having in Iraq is not Bush's happy subject, either. People just don't believe these guys, anymore.

16. I doubt it.
Their distractions usually involve the war on terror, and whoever they can use such as the FBI, CIA, DHS, Saudi double agents, Iraqi security forces etc.

13. Rove knew
They all knew. So now it's fear fear fear, don't criticize the President in a time of crisis, rally round the flag.

I think Dems can use this to our benefit, but they can't back down from Bush.

We'll see, but it looks like October Surprise to me.

19. This administration knew
They knew this test was coming, we'll find that out a year or five down the road. This is the "October Surprise" Rove promised, thinking that people would be frightened in to voting security again. The only thing that might change that is Woodward's book.

24. Why do you suppose they did nothing?
They knew they didn't have the dipomatic ability to stop it which would look even worse, so they let it happen and will go into 'dangerous world' that you 'can't trust the Dems with' mode.

What should they have done?? Emergency summits, international condemnation, etc etc. We don't have the standing to do that sort of thing anymore though.

25. But if we didn't "make" it happen, how is an "october surprise"?
That's the part I'm trying to understand. Either we did something to make it happen or we let it happen on purpose. But the latter presumes we could've done something to stop it and I don't see what that would've been, given our lack of standing and the fact that NK seems pretty much willing and able to do what they want.

Rove's MO is attack your opponent's strength, and they have always touted this as being their strength. It is, in fact, an unmitigated disaster.

and the dems should ONLY say, over & over, "80% of the uranium to do this nuclear test was acquired on bush's failed security watch, this is his main priority as president, and he FAILED us again"
