"A True Blowout is Now Possible"
Edited on Sun Oct-08-06 09:18 AM by lwcon
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2006/10/a_true_blowout_is_now_possible.html

After looking at the news for the past 10 days or so, I have to wonder how Democrats can possibly fail in their efforts to take both the House and the Senate.

The national atmospherics don’t merely favor Democrats; they set the stage for a blowout of cosmic proportions next month.

No, that’s not a prediction, since Republicans still have a month to “localize” enough races to hold onto one or both chambers of Congress. But you don’t have to be Teddy White or V.O. Key to know that the GOP is now flirting with disaster.

Let’s forget all of the niceties and diplomatic language and cut to the obvious truth: From the White House to Capitol Hill, Republicans look inept.

BTW, is it fair to say that realclearpolitics.com is a right-wing site? The balance of conservative to liberal articles is usually heavily slanted that way.

2. How encouraging! Just curious - are you not worried about the
voting machines being corrupted?

7. Yes, very worried about it
Worried about crooked manual counting, voter-registration fraud, too. What can be done?

12. these "oh dear, jinx" and voting machine nervous nellies
are obsessive compulsive and responding to their predictable tedious helpless prattle is an exercise in futility.

3. As somebody on DU once said...
The Democrats never fail to miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

6. I believe realclarpolitics is indeed RW
My right wing pig of a brother in law has it as his home page on his personal computer.

Everytime I'm there working on his computer (because he's a dimwit and doesn't know how to fix his own problems) I am tempted to switch his home page to DU!

Sadly as others have said, the Dems have shown they're more than willing and able to lose every opportunity sent their way.

8. That's all well and good....
But if Republican operatives are in charge of counting the votes, the Republicans will win. Remember we are dealing with people who strongly believe that the ends justify the means and are not overly concerned about the democratic process.

Unless and until the machines controlled by them are removed from the equation, I don't see how a win is going to happen.

By "removed from the equation" I mean legally if possible or smash every goddam one of them if necessary.

16. Yes, exactly...
It will be called The Hammer Rebellion.

When the people have had enough of these stolen elections and the problem cannot be corrected by those with the power to do so, the voters will have to do it themselves; one hammer at a time - one machine at a time.

All at the same time would indeed be another Boston Tea Party.

9. I share your hopes, but cautiously, cautiously...
I was so euphoric at about this time in 2004, when we all felt confident that John Kerry would be our next president. "Landslide," "blowout," "how could anyone possibly vote for that smirking chimp?" and so forth, but we all know what happened. The repukes won't miss a single trick in stealing every vote they can. Inept they may look, but the cockroaches are busily scurrying behind the scenes.

14. The reason I don't like such talk of a Democratic "blowout"
is that it creates the expectation that the Democrats will win big, and if the Republicans somehow manage to keep their majority by even one seat, they will see that as a victory for them and portray it as a mandate to continue their war on the Constitution.

17. No matter what happens, they'll spin and spin...
... and the media will lap it up.

Bush's wafer-thin victory in '04, which took all manner of shenanigans in Ohio to pull off, was declared by the entire MSM as a "mandate."

In the event that the Dems get one or both houses, the media will announce that the bloom is off the rose and that Dems are endangering the country if Nancy Pelosi so much as sneezes.
