Rep. Heather Wison scandals -- anyone here from NM?

I saw this video linked from a discussion board, about a scandal dating back to Wilson's role as Secretary of the New Mexico Children, Youth and Family Department. It involves the unethical handling of a government file about her husband:

It's not clear how new the news clip is.

Here's some info I was sent about Wilson. I don't live there but since I heard a report on NPR about Wilson and the Congressional race in her district I have been working this matter. She also took $8k from the $100k Foley raised. There is a rumor about her covering up a molestation by her husband. She has an adopted child.

Please share any info you get about her and especially about her involvement in the Foley affair. There are some National syndicated news folks who have an interest in Heather Wilson.



According to a news release on Rep. Heather Wilson‚s official website, she was appointed in May of 2001 to the House Page Board, the organization that oversees the U.S. House of Representatives‚ page program in which several teenaged boys were participating when disgraced Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) made inappropriate sexual advances toward them.

ABC Nightly News on Sunday reported that as early as 2001, when Wilson was named to the House Page Board, pages were being warned about Foley's inappropriate behavior.

“We have another case of Heather Wilson refusing to stand up and ask the tough questions,” said Heather Brewer, spokeswoman for Attorney General Patricia Madrid, Wilson's opponent. "In 2001, when Heather Wilson was named to the House Page Board, pages were already being warned about the inappropriate conduct of Rep. Mark Foley. But Heather Wilson did nothing to protect teenage boys from this sexual predator. Voters have a right to know: As a member of the House Page Board, why did Heather Wilson choose to do nothing to protect teenage boys from her colleague, Mark Foley?"

5. I'm in Wilson's (soon to be Madrid's) district--NM 01.

Last week, before the Foley news broke, the race was dead even. This might push it over the edge, but the most important aspect of the race is the number of volunteers for Madrid. I put in some time last week (this week, my job had to come first).

"Boots on the ground" will ultimately determine the outcome here in NM District 01.

7. I have no additional negative rumors to report. The fact is that Wilson

is a staunch Bush enabler and an enabler of the Iraq War. That has been Patsy's emphasis of late, and it can't be emphasized too much. One of the latest TV ads here illuminates that fact very eloquently and strongly.

Our district is LITTERED with Madrid signs. They're everywhere! I have not seen ONE, not ONE sign for Wilson anywhere.

BUT--Karl Rove was in NM last weekend, raising money via a $5000-per-plate luncheon or dinner.

Madrid is charismatic, tireless, and SMART. She is a small woman, full of energy and brains. She is also arrestingly attractive, which doesn't hurt her campaign. ;-) She approaches volunteers to thank them. She asked me my opinion of an upcoming ad, an early version of which I saw at campaign headquarters. Very impressive! No wonder the GOP is concerned...

10 years old before she was elected to the House. She was helped in winning that first election by the green party candidate getting around 15% of the vote.
