After all, Mr. Buchanan is a devout and conservative Catholic who has been married for a long time, but curiously has no children. So he probably doesn't know anything about fucking.

5. will the republicans run with this later?
there is a strong part of the republican base (most notably conservative christians) who have a HUGE problem with gays. Yeah, most of the republicans are ralllying around Foley but only because it's currently an attack on the republican party. What happens when the "morality" police use this as an "I told you so" about gays?

They will be grasping at straws to save face and since Foley is already lost they can always start hammering at this issue to start dividing people up.

7. Actually, they're not rallying around Foley
They're calling for *his* head on a pike.

Who they *are* rallying around is the Republic leadership. That leaves plenty of room for the haters to spew.
