The War on Terror is the biggest, longest running con game ever
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 11:52 AM by Old and In the Way
played against the American people.

Want proof?

2001-2006 American civilian deaths, automobile-related: 200,000
2001-2006 American civilian deaths, terror-related: 3,000

Has the price been worth it? Who, other than stock and option holders of war industries, has benefitted from this travesty?

1. Biggest casualty:
the mainstreaming of the "unitary executive" theory, and the resulting trashing of the Constitution.

2. yep-- it is a scam that benefits war profiteers, including the media....
I CANNOT understand why more Americans don't understand this. It is so obvious.

3. I agree, and unfortunately every president regardless of party
will play their role in the ongoing con and hysteria.

The day that each of us die the "WOT" will still be going on.

4. Pass this message around....it
is simple and easily understood. Has it been worth a trillion dollars, 3000 American soldiers, tens of thousands of Iraqis, all the casualties associated, the loss of our civil rights, and our international reputation? We need to call bullshit and make Bush defend his record, in light of the actual reality.

We should be fighting the War on Better Healthcare or the War on Safer Cars or the War on Global Warming....relevant issues that effect us all. All of these ideas have killed far many more us than Terror.

6. The goals of the WOT are not to protect the American people
the goals are - to keep us afraid, take away our freedoms and of course to line the pockets of those individuals and corps that will produce the hardware and software necessary to implement the ongoing WOT.

7. Why do people make a distinction between "accidental" deaths ...
and deaths by "violent" means such as war? I think people have a difficult time explaing this Limbaugh-type explanation also. Perhaps it is that they know death happens to us all and "accidental" deaths are not preventable. They just happen. Deaths by war and violence are preventable and therefore, unnecessary.

9. Fair point.
What could we have done with a trillion dollars invested in alternative/renewable energy instead of this Global War on Thinking (the real GWOT)? How many jobs would that have created here, while reducing our dependence on oil from the ME?

Who's making the money on this fraud called the WOT?

10. It shares some similarity with cold war hyperbole
Every indigenous populist group, rebel faction, marxist or socialist group with a rifle and a hand grenade was represented as a part of the world wide communist threat.

Now every Islamic faction in every remote location is weaved together into the world wide jihadist threat from a similar phony ideological perspective meant to justify hegemony and interventionism everywhere on the globe.

13. You see no difference between auto accident deaths & terrorist murders?
I can see the difference clearly. Auto related accidental
deaths are NOT pre-meditated murder. It is just that...an
accident. Terrorist related murders such as 911 are planned
attacks against random civilians. If you can't see the difference
I suggest you seek help.

14. Hit a sore spot?
Do you see the diiference between 200,000 and 3,000? How much time has this administration discussed automotive safety vs. say, terror?

If you can't see how one act of terror has been used to dimish our civil rights, bankrupt our Treasury, and destroyed our international reputation....., perhaps you should be the one checking in with your shrink.

The point I'm making is that we've sunk a Trillion dollars creating more terrorists when the real 'war' we should be fighting is making our cars safer and more fuel efficient, investing in our environment and our infrastructure.

Because a lot more Americans are going to die in cars then they are going to die at the hands of a terorist.

And until we get a real, objective investigation that is not controlled by this administration- only then will we understand the real root cause of what happened on 9/11.

15. I agree that more should be done to cut down auto deaths & maiming
but you just can't compare murder with accident. Apples and
oranges. And I also agree this administration sux.

When you are dead, you are dead. How one dies is for fate to decide. How we prioritize our focus on dealing with these issues is for us to decide.

The War on Terror is a fraud.

Deaths-Leading Causes
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/lcod.htm

(Data are for U.S. for year indicated)

Number of deaths for leading causes of death (2004)

Heart disease: 654,092
Cancer: 550,270
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 150,147
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 123,884
Accidents (unintentional injuries): 108,694
Diabetes: 72,815
Alzheimer's disease: 65,829
Influenza/Pneumonia: 61,472
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 42,762
Septicemia: 33,464
Criminal Murders: 16,137

Terror deaths in the US, 2004: 0

Again, we have spent 5 years and a Trillion+ dollars fighting a problem that does not exist.

Until we address and refute the justifications of this administration's actions - terror, terror, terror, we risk losing everything that this country was founded on, 230 years ago.
