My Republican brother is ready to dump Bush!!
I think we have reached the tipping point. My brother called me today and said Bush must go. He has been Republican all his life. He has never voted for a Democrat. But today he is ready to vote for any of the Democrats.

Bush's "imminent threat" tap dance and sham investigation is what did it. I couldn't believe it.

After listening to him for a few minutes, I made the comment that Republican impeached Clinton for lying about sex, so Bush should be impeached for lying to go to war. He agreed.

Bush is toast.

2. Yep, with caveats
Same here. My brother-in-law has expressed interest in Clark (though he's vehemently opposed to Edwards, and indifferent to Kerry), and 2 other Repub friends also expressed interest in Clark (w/ no comments on the others).

5. The date is the big deal for my brother
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 09:13 PM by xray s
March 31, 2005. Said that is a joke.

But what really riles him is all the "I never said imminent threat" nonsense Bush is putting out. He said he knows what he heard.

8. Reminds me of what "is" is.
Maybe he never used those exact words...never said imminent.
But the whole administration spent months sending out that message!Dick Cheney scared the shit of of me. Good thing I KNEW he was lying.
The whole world knew. How come Bush didn't know? That's what Russert should ask him tomorrow.

9. That "is" exactly right
In a weird way, Republicans are equating Bush with their arch enemy, Bill Clinton!

Ohhh! This is getting interesting!

13. Looks like it was in context to me
http://www.mediawhoresonline.com/

Here's White House communications director Dan Bartlett with one of those examples discussing Saddam Hussein with CNN's own Wolf Blitzer.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) WOLF BLITZER, CNN ANCHOR: Is he an imminent threat to U.S. interests, either in that part of the world or to Americans right here at home?

DAN BARTLETT, WHITE HOUSE COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR: Well, of course, he is.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BEGALA: "Well, of course, he is." And, of course, when the White House now claims that it never said that Iraq was an imminent threat, it's misleading us again.

Bush can try to weasel this all he wants. The bottom line is Americans like my brother are waking up to the fact that Bush scared the hell out of them to go to war, and now the facts show Saddam was a toothless tiger.

People are dying for Bush's lies.

15. Bush appeared very small behind that podium today
The effort Rove has put into creating some majestic Bush myth is crumbling rapidly. Bush looked very small behind that podium today, and, combined with all the other rapidly emerging revelations (O'Neill, Kay, WMD) and his pitiful SotU address, less-than-fully-closed minds are starting to see the light of day.

16. Yes. Cheney's removal from the ticket is a done deal (IMO)
Not sure who'd they replace him with, but Cheney's sure to go. However, his removal from the ticket wouldn't preclude his participation in another Dubya administration should the worst frickin' case occur.
