We are working hard to GOTV in my local party.

3. Thanks for the heads-up!
Almost every DEM in town is wondering where in the world to go for the caucus. Hope the polls are packed in The D and everyplace else across both peninsulas.

Three facts for DUers who don't live in Michigan:

1. Michigan has more coastline than any other state, except Alaska.

2. Detroit is north of Canada.

3. Thomas Edison was raised in Port Huron.

4. great pic of MI Octafish!
it really shows the differences throughout the state (particularly southern lower peninsula v northern lower peninsula).

also like your michigan facts! i could add many, but one of my favorites is that michigan and ohio actually had a war over toledo - ohio "won." they have toledo. as a consolation prize, michigan got the UP.

plus, i was just reading the Dean/NRA/Michigan thread and think that a noteworthy michigan fact is that stop signs are hunted in michigan, or at least you would think so evidenced by the fact that stop signs in rural areas always show the scars of having been shot at least several times. (any michigan hunters reading this that can explain the shot up stop signs to me? i would be extremely grateful to know why!)

thanks for the heads up thread, ih8thegop! it's kind of neat that michigan actually has a vote that counts this time around!

7. "hunting stop signs"
(any michigan hunters reading this that can explain the shot up stop signs to me? i would be extremely grateful to know why!)

I'm not a hunter, but I have at least one in the family who says he does it to test the accuracy of the sights on his rifle before he goes hunting.

Probably most of them are just kids having "fun" :eyes: though.

11. I just voted in Ferndale
There was actually a line for ballots.

I talked with county commissioner Dave Coulter, and he said turn out had been very high so far.
