dean contributors- e-mail tucker carlson
this from the illinois for dean yahoo group-
let's tell him that the secret is out. we know it is the money primary that counts the most.

http://www.cnn.com/feedback/

> Tucker Carlson just insulted anyone who would donate
> money to Howard Dean, and issued a challenge to anyone
> who had donated to write to CNN and explain why anyone
> would do something this stupid.

Specifically (and Rob, if this gets bounced off of lists I don't
subscribe to, would you be kind enough to forward?):

> TUCKER CARLSON, CO-HOST: Yesterday, Howard Dean woke up
> and realized he was dead. After promising to take his
> campaign all the way to the March primaries, Dean
> conceded that he must win the Wisconsin primary just 12
> days from now. If he loses Wisconsin, Dean admitted, the
> jig is up. As "The Washington Post" put it, Dean is
> making a last stand in cheese land.
>
> Roy Neel, Dean's latest and final campaign chairman,
> fired off an e-mail this afternoon hoping to rally the
> few remaining troops. Neel ended his letter with a
> two-paragraph quote from CNN's own Jeff Greenfield,
> noting that there are, in fact, quite a few left-wingers
> still in Wisconsin. It was sad, but also apparently
> persuasive.
>
> The Dean campaign claims to have raised more than 100
> grand today, $55,000 of that just in the hour between
> noon and 1:00, all of which raises the important
> question, who in his right mind would give money to
> Howard Dean at this point? Well, if you're one of those
> who did, we want to hear from you. Explain yourself to
> CROSSFIRE@C.... I'm fascinated by that.
>
> MARGARET CARLSON, GUEST HOST: Some people in our
> audience said they'd given money to Dean. This is the
> ultimate in picking the place where you think you might
> win, no matter how far out it is.
>
> T. CARLSON: Yes. It's sad.

2. Here's my email to Tucker

Why I continue to support Howard Dean and his "win Wisconsin" bid?

In short, I'm not a sunshine or fair weather Democratic Patriot. I've been a Dean Meetup host since September last year. I helped the New Hampshire Dean Campaign in November 2003, December 2003, and January 2004, including the Primary weekend and Primary Day. I braved the winter elements for Howard Dean because I 1) like him as a person, 2) believe in his campaign's principles, and 3) think he's the best candidate to defeat Bush in November 2004.

I signed-up with the Dean for America campaign in April 2003 because he was the only Democratic Presidential candidate, who was willing to champion those unpopular views -- oppose the Iraq War, oppose the irresponsible tax cuts, and chastise the other Democratic leaders for abdicating Democratic principles. If Dean had not done what he did, I would be writing in 'Bugs Bunny' on Connecticut's Primary day, March 2. After Kerry, Edwards, Gephardt, and Lieberman kissed Bush's keister over the Iraq War Vote, No Child Left Behind, and those infamous tax cuts, I had little hope for Bush being removed from the White House in 2004. Then in March 2003, Howard Dean publicly chastised those prodigal Democrats and we helped him via our money smack the Democratic Establishment by beating Bill Clinton's fundraising record twice in the same year. John Kerry has never come close to meeting Dean's fundraising prowess. He had to mortgage his home to raise the funds he needed for his one last attempt. And to this day, Kerry still can not match Dean's charisma with his donors.

The late Father Thomas Merton said, "…it may…be necessary to practice non-violent methods if democracy is to be kept alive and preserved against the sclerosis which is gradually hardening it into a new form of Totalism." Merton said that in 1968 during the height of the Vietnam War protests and after the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr and Bobby Kennedy. Political activism is a form of non-violent protest, and Howard Dean answered Merton's call for non-violent change for our generation.

Like a doctor giving electric shock to a patient whose heart has stopped, Howard Dean jolted the Democratic Party back to life. It was Dean, not Kerry, who made it safe again for Democrats to attack Bush's fraudulent policies. Kerry may be co-opting Dean's language, mortgaging his $6 million house to pay for his last gasp attempt and using Dem Party machine politics to win the nomination but no matter what happens the rest of this year, Howard Dean will be credited with reviving the Democratic Party and proving that campaign finance reform can work in practice.

Gephardt's wing of the Party is becoming extinct. It's Dean's 320,000 plus donors who are the future of the Democratic Party and we are the near future. I'm 42 years old and like a lot of us Dean supporters I want my Party back from the pro-corporate Dems, who enable Bush's Robber Barons to plunder our nation's Treasury, and my country back from the Rightwing bigots, who poison our nation's soul with lies, distortions, and hate, and from the Robber Barons, who are stealing our future and shipping our good-paying jobs overseas.

In case Howard Dean does not win the nomination, here's a question for you to propose to the non-Dean Democratic nominee: how are you going to attract Dean's avid donors to donate to your general election campaign? Dean's supporters are not robots. We are real people and we are passionate about justice and our civil rights. What would the non-Dean Democratic nominee be willing to offer for our support? Would naming Howard Dean as head of the DNC, at the very least, be an option on the table?

6. Well, is Tucker going to eat his tie in this challenge?
And his shoes...

Dean supporters - I'm not one of you, but if I were I'd be pissed off enough by this garbage to write in. Dare Tucker to consume a garment while you're at it! :toast:

8. Dean is 2nd in total delegates at this point, right?
Of course it's no surprise to see bowtieboy excoriate Dean supporters, it's his job after all. But there does seem to be a mass media movement afoot to bury the Dean candidacy when it's still very much alive and kicking.
