What percentage did Kucinich need in Iowa...

He'd said he would start with a surprisingly strong showing in the Iowa caucuses and then would gain support slowly and steadily from there.

I want answers from those who say they like him and would support him--or would have supported him--if he had a chance of winning the nomination.

2. Due to the 15% rule, we'll never know how much support he had

I knew of counties in northern Iowa where he won 30% of the vote. Unfortunatly, with that stupin 15% rule, we'll never truly know how much support he did have.

I would put it at near 10%, if not higher, on average across the state. IMHO his deal with Edwards is what made Edwards into the "major" candidate he is today.

5. Actually, we could learn initial support levels...

...by counting how many participants indicated Kucinich as first choice when they registered upon arrival at their caucus sites. It should be possible to find out from the Iowa Democratic Party.

As it was--yes, because of the 15-percent threshold at the precinct level--he placed at all in only 28 of the 99 counties.

The highest official count (measured in county convention delegates) was Jefferson County with 29 percent. But that was an anomaly because of the "meditator" community there. Otherwise, no county's official count was above 10 percent.
