Book Exposes Karl Rove's Gay Link

Washington) A new book on Karl Rove, the man credited with pulling together a conservative Christian base to elect and then re-elect George Bush to the presidency, details to what lengths he would go to win election.

In "The Architect: Karl Rove and the Master Plan for Absolute Power" writers James Moore and Wayne Slater reveal that Rove has told insiders he does not consider himself "a Christian", had a father who was gay, and regularly dealt with openly gay Republicans as he worked publicly to have a constitutional amendment passed that would ban same-sex marriage.

Rove's father, Louis, left the family and moved to California where he came out. Louis Rove died in Palm Springs as "his son was in the midst of launching the antigay issues campaign that was to lead to the re-election of George W. Bush."

In interviews with friends of Louis Rove the authors detail how the two men remained close right up until Louis' death. Rove keeps a picture of his father on his desk.

2. That Rove does not consider himself to be a Christian is the first

positive thing I've ever read about the man. At least he does not share the hypocrisy of others of this administration who have consistently worked against the fundamental principles of Christianity while loudly proclaiming their faith.

8. This is true. The best things the gay community has done toward educating

people is to "come out of the closet." By doing so, it has made more and more people aware of the fact that they have gay members of THEIR family. This makes it more real and personal - which in turn opens people's eyes.

In the past, the same thing applied to divorce - when it was in YOUR family - it suddenly put another light on it.


I have a child that is gay. My extended family is fundamentalist. They all know if they said one word negative about him that I would be all over them like gang busters. But, the good news of this whole situation is that it has made them see that he is no different than always - the only difference is that he is gay.
