Kinawa Michigan student to interview Kerry

OKEMOS - After today, 12-year-old Patrick Buetow will be able to say his first interview as a journalist was with Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

Patrick applied last month to be a reporter for Junior Scholastic Magazine and was selected to cover a group interview with Kerry at 1:15 p.m. today at Mott Community College in Flint.

Patrick said he will ask the senator from Massachusetts what he thinks about Canada sending so much trash to Michigan, what the future of education should be and how he would define his stance on affirmative action. He then will write his story for the magazine.

"It's an incredible opportunity for him," she said. "I am thrilled ... I wish I could go with him."
