Lieberman Challenges Lamont To Debate
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 10:58 PM by oberliner
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Independent U.S. Senate candidate Joe Lieberman, locked in a close re-election fight after losing the Democratic primary to an anti-war candidate, challenged Democrat Ned Lamont to a debate Friday over the government's response to Hurricane Katrina.

Lieberman, at a campaign stop to tout his role in securing federal transportation dollars, accused Lamont of distorting his record as the one-year anniversary of Katrina approached.

"Any time Ned Lamont wants to debate me about what each of us did with regard to Katrina, I'm ready for the debate," Lieberman said.

2. Ned Lamont should insist the Republican nominee be
...included in the next debate.

Even if Lieberman never agrees to it, the conflict will raise Alan Schlesinger's profile.

5. Not been pounded enough by Lamont, eh?
Ned would not be silly enough to allow this discredited has been to wrangle him into a pointless debate, would he?

Lamont is the chosen rep of the Ct. dems and Liebchen is little more than a privete citizen with a big mouth, ego, and grudge.

6. False premise on Lieberman's part...
Ned Lamont was not elected to do what the federal government should have been doing...

Lieberman's culpability in passing Michael Brown through the Senate speaks volumes!

9. If Lieberman wants a debate, ask him why he left the Democrats first...
If Lieberman does want a debate, it has to be about ALL the votes he made...period.

10. Agree to a debate...on ALL of the issues.
"Senator Lieberman asked for a debate. I'll gladly debate him on the issues that concern the people of Connecticut."

...something along those lines.

There are too many things to nail Lieberman on to confine the debate to the Katrina response.

11. Hmm...
demand the repub nominee attend too? Didn't the defacto republican nominee make the challange in the first place?

I see Joe keeping his seat thanks to the money he is getting from repubs, I also see him pulling a reverse Jim Jeffords if the senate is in democratic hands following the election, for "the safety of america."

12. Lamont should take him up on it...because it will expose
Joe for the Republican he is ....and yes the Republican should be invited too....he will be competing with the Republican over who can get the Repug talking points out first....this should prove to any remaining Democrats that support him....he is no Democrat....

13. Does this mean that Liebermann is behind?
Generally, the candidate that is behind is the one who issues the challenge.

15. Lieberman should become a Republican and then ask for debate
As it is, this is like having the candidate for some obscure party, a party of one in Joe's case, demand to be included in the Presidential debates.

What a pathetic turd Holy Joe has revealed himself to be.
