3. house majority leader boehner
tried to spin it by saying that part of congress' job is to meet with constituents, as if that's a new idea.

if you look at the historical numbers, it seems that the house has met between 125 and 150 days during election years, and slightly more during non-election years. so any way you slice it, this house met about 50-70 less days than normal for an election year.

2. It seems like about 700 days.
One has to wonder if we have a tree left standing in any national park by now. The infrastructure of the country seems to be pulled out like an old knit sweater.

4. Gee
I wish I could make over $165K to work barely more than 1/5 of the year. :eyes:

6. and get plenty of perks on top of it
Nope, they spend all of their time fund raising for the next two years. I think Congress ought to be voted every 4 like the President, but I must admit I'm happy to vote those SOB's out this year.

10. Not to mention a grand pension at the end of it all
rather than the pittance of Social Security the rest of us have to live on (if that even exists by the time we retire). :eyes:

7. I think we should pay them minimum wage
and let them work by the hour. I would think that would fix two issues at once. Higher minimum wage and lots more time doing their jobs....

11. I've suggested that more than once myself
Anybody who insists that the minimum wage is sufficient should be forced to live on it for a year (and on that alone--they don't get to dip into their trust funds, bank accounts, spouse's assets, etc.). I'd bet the minimum wage would be brought up to a living level faster than you could say "Boo".

9. $2089/day!
They really work hard to destroy this country in those few days. Imagine IF they worked the entire year? What percentage of Americans do not make this in a month?

8. well . . . at least they're doing SOMETHING to justify that raise . . .
they gave themselves . . .

(correction . . . THOSE raiseS) . . .

given their record, the fewer days they're in session, the better it is for all of us . . . whenever this Congress convenes, bad things happen . . .
