Family member - lifelong Army, Vietnam Vet - says he will vote for Kerry
Kerry has a broad appeal...

This guy has voted for both Democrats and Republicans in the past and says that Iraq is a "big can of worms" and it makes him sick...

I think we stand a good chance of winning in 2004!

1. Yes Kerry has wide appeal among Vets
and in general with the ammount of people going to the polls, you are correct... we have more than just a good chance.

The anger in this country is deep and getting deeper

6. Fox begins it Kerry slander
I just read an article on the Fox News site and they've begun the mud slinging. Does fair and balanced include trashing everyone but bush? The article accuses Kerry of opening the door for lawsuits over Agent Orange. The article titled, "Has Kerry Helped Vietnam Sue Over Agent Orange?". According to Fox its perfectively safe for everyday use. Read here: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,110599,00.html

Here is my reply to its author: "You truly must be a blithering idiot. Comparing his fight for veterans rights to some heinous lawsuit by Vietnam. Fox is really on the ropes here trying to slander the Democratic candidate with this tactic. Your fear that Bush is going to be defeated must be strong to resort to this. Fair and Balanced huh? My wife is a doctor and I did 12 years of medical research at the University of Texas Medical Branch. What are your scientific qualifications? In the coming days we hope to paste your article and VALID research all over the media. Just another step in the telling the truth about Fox News."

Please take the time to let Fox News and this author know your feelings about this kind of journalism.

7. Hi mharris660 - welcome to DU!
I can't help but like someone who writes a letter to Fox News starting out with "You truly must be a blithering idiot."

10. that article truly is a smear!
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 01:20 AM by rumguy
Kerry fought for Vets who were stonewalled by the VA!

Furthermore, to Faux News all science is "junk science" - in their twisted minds global warming research has no validity either.

Fuck 'em...

15. I try to avoid FAUX news but just had to check this out,

and this paragraph was my favorite:

"Hoping to grab an easy few billion dollars or so, the cash-strapped government of Vietnam claims that about three million of its citizens have been harmed by Agent Orange. Vietnam has enlisted the help of U.S. environmentalists -- notably dioxin hysteric Arnold Schecter (search) of the University of Texas -- who are eager to blame dioxin for virtually any and every health effect imaginable."

Apparently this guy never heard of Times Beach, MO. Ah, no wonder, he's
a junk scientist with Cato!

"Steven Milloy is the publisher of JunkScience.com, an adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute and the author of Junk Science Judo: Self-Defense Against Health Scares and Scams (Cato Institute, 2001)."

Welxcome to DU, mharris660! :hi:

14. These kinds of posts are so silly . . .
I know someone who has these attributes who will vote for my candidate . . .

How about this:
I know a non-family member, lifelong Army, Vietnam Vet who won't vote for Kerry (at least in the primary).

He also has voted for Dems and Repubs in the past and calls Iraq a 'bait and switch':

Wesley Clark

17. Thanks all for the warm welcome
To be honest I haven't chosen a candidate, I sent donations to both Kerry and Edwards. I just get mad at crummy reporting and science. I have made it my personal goal to strike out at Fox at every chance I get. My wife doesn't talk to me, my dog stopped playing with me, and my phone rings and rings because I spend day and night combing Fox News articles for trash. I fight the lonely battle.
