Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 10:18 PM by nradisic
Folks... We are far from Dead. Americans are not know to throw money at a "Finished Candidate". This is absolutely amazing.
Off, By and For the People. Apparently there are many more Dean supporters coming out of the wood work. Don't count us out just yet folks.....it is called People Power. The goal was to raise $700,000 for ads in Wisconsin by Sunday. Dean will raise that in less than 24 hours today. Hmmm......This campaign is far from broke. No one has this kind of base.

13. Bush has raised quite a bit of money for his campaign, too...
does that make him a good president?

I don't think Dean is in any way equivalent to Bush - in fact, Dean is unquestionably better then Bush, and I will support him in the GE if he gets the nomination - but my point is that the amount of money a candidate raises has little to do with how good a president they would make.

This is why Clark is my second supported candidate here, only Kucinich beats them both in under $200 contributions, but I do see him as too far of a long shot (and I do feel bad for seeing it that way, but I'm trying to be as realistic as possible; I will know when it's Dean's turn to give it up). Look at Edwards and Kerry... fun, huh?

33. Another question...
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 10:06 PM by Darranar
If Dean is so loved by the voting populace, which is why he is getting so much money, why is he doing so badly in the primaries?

If his campaign was grass-roots, and since he's managed to raise so much money, wouldn't the support of so many ordinary people reflect in the primaries with electoral success for Dean?

43. What...
you think Kerry's support in all the polls is based on love?

What percentage of those who have voted for him after NH would you say could even name three of his policy positions?

Kerry's winning because Dem voters perceive him as a winner....for winning in the two whitest, rural states in the union.....

Now the question you should be asking, is that if Kerry gets the nomination...will he be able to hold up to a scrutiny 10xs worse than Dean went through....

48. Frankly, no...
I think it's based on electability.

I don't see much difference between Dean and Kerry on policies, aside from the fact that one was senator at the time of the IWR and the other wasn't. The main difference, I suppose, is that I trust Kerry (relatively; he is, after all a politician) while I don't trust Dean, because of the way he's pretending to be a liberal and anti-war when in fact he is nothing of the sort.

Seeing as how Dean got 5x as much media coverage as Kerry, I think the fact that he has managed to survive is pretty impressive.

and B2 he was Anti-current Iraq war. Not anti-all war. That is the guy YOU support.
As for electablity, I say any guy who can sign a civil unions bill at 35% and STILL manages to win his next election is electible.

38. Do the calculations yourself
Divide the donation total by the number of contributors, you get the average donation made. I calculated it earlier, it was about $77 per donor. Yeah, I'd say that's grass roots.

11. Dean is the last resort for this nation - if we don't take it, we'll.....
deserve what we get. We have been offered one, last final time to get back in the White House. If the opportunity is not taken now, it will never come this way again.

There will never be another real, two party system in the U.S. again.

Most people don't realize the dire, dire circumstances our nation is in.

AP,

You've been posting this on EVERY pro Dean thread.. you have no FACTS to back it up, just something you read on the Edwards blog.

I've always respected you, I don't always agree with you, but I've respected you. Supporters like you were one reason Edwards was my number 2..

But your near constant "dean is only raising money for debt pay back.."

Its non factual.
Its snarky
You've got NO way to back that up.

I kinda tend to go with the you support your guy, and we will support ours *shrug* Can you please try to refrain from making non factual snarky posts on Dean threads when his supporters are actually HAPPY about Dean's fundraising today. How in any way does what you post HELP Edwards?

It doesn't. Its pure bull to simply try and draw blood from Dean supporters.

Maybe its cause edwards doesn't have this kind of backing..
Maybe its because HE'S gone public with some money problems himself?

I really don't know why you do it man..

Why must Non Dean supporters come on Pro Dean threads about his fundraising today and go OUT of thier way to make snarky comments?

I looked at three Pro clark fundraising threads just now.. and ya know.. I didn't see any Dean people basjing Clarks supporters.

Can't you just accept the fact that

A) Dean supporters want Dean to stay in.
B) Dean supporters are giving thier all for him to stay in.
C) Dean supporters are very willing to put thier money where thier mouth is.

Its that simple. We like Dean, we want him to win. We will fight our damndest to make that happen, and if the campaign comes to us ad says "Hey guys, we need X amount for X" kick in what you can, we are going to do it.

What a wonderful sight to see so many people putting their money where their faith is.

You and your guy deserve it - hopefully he'll pull off an upset on the 7th!
