Cynthia McKinney Is In My Hometown Today
Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 03:06 PM by MJDuncan1982
McKinney is speaking in a rally today in S. Augusta.

I am not ashamed to say I do not like this woman - and I'm sure that most of Augusta is ashamed she is here.

Just a little thought experiment:

If I ran for office (WM) and a member of my "entourage" called a black reporter a nigger...how would this board react?

This woman is not fit for office and I am glad she lost.

1. What are you talking about?
Neil Boortz said that she looks like a "ghetto slut."

Yes, Cynthia made some mistakes, but it sounds like you are succumbing to all the media spin and slime that was spewed against her.

Why are you ashamed?

2. Because she comes across as racist to me. Georgia has enough problems

to deal with, especially between whites and blacks, and she is simply deepening that divide.

And I don't like Boortz...why bring him up?

10. Here in Memphis we have many politicians that use race
to stay in office. We've had some black politicians call non-blacks the "white devil" seriously, I'm not making his up. To stay in office many black politicians will scare their constituents that a white politician is going to take all their rights away and make things they way they were in the south of the 50's. It's wrong for whites to discriminate and it's wrong for blacks to employ these tactics.

16. I do believe that this is the case...
and that's a shame. The same is happening in a district in Brooklyn where some black candidates take for granted that blacks and other minorities will vote for them. It's sad. Racism is unacceptable and disgusting no matter where it originates. Still, I haven't seen evidence of Cynthia's racism. Please do give insight on this...

24. It was not a white/black thing. It was a "Jewish" thing.
Ranting about Jews would seem to be a different matter than playing the race card, which is what you seem to be talking about.

27. white/black thing or Jewish thing,
this is merely a distinction without a difference.

Hate is hate.

28. Oh, I agree with you.
I was merely pointing out that this was beyond what someone might consider playing the race card. For some reason people want to excuse this behavior from the entourage of McKinney because they like what she says on other issues.

But if your father, and the people on your staff, make bigotted statements, it is going to reflect badly on you, no matter how much truth you might be speaking to power. And it's going to diminish you, and make people less likely to listen to you.

29. This is what a lot of people are not
wanting to admit about C.M.--she was undermining herself, and therefore her message with her behavior, and ultimately she became a liability.

At least it was the voters who made the decision.

or Hank(erchief Head) Johnson's fault that she lost.

3. I am very unhappy she lost. She represented my concerns and spoke
truth to power. She's been the target of the Capitol Hill Police and corporate media hacks for many years -- long enough that many people in her home state probably believe they should be ashamed of her.

Capitol Hill is ‘Last Plantation’ according to officers

McKinney-Capitol Police incident part of systemic racism of Capitol Police force says African American officers

Atlanta, GA – Cynthia McKinney was deliberately targeted by white U.S. Capitol Police Officers, part of the systemic racism of the U.S. Capitol Police Force say four African American Capitol Officers. The startling revelation, coming a week before her primary run-off against Hank Johnson, came in a video released by Ian Inaba, director of the Sundance award winning American Blackout (which will open early in an exclusive engagement this Friday in Atlanta).

The video shows four anonymous African American officers discussing what they see as the systemic racism of the U.S. Capitol Police Force. In particular, they say, is a double standard that exists for both black officers and Members of Congress – something that leaves the U.S. Capitol as what they term the “last plantation.”

“I know the black members are disrespected, I’ve seen instances where black members are disrespected,” said one officer in the video. “They’ll do things to black Members that they don’t do to white Members.”

Another officer in the video recalls white U.S. Capitol Officers actually preparing to confront African American Members of Congress.

“I’ve heard them say, ‘Well when certain members come through here, in particular Cynthia McKinney, she ain’t just gonna run up these steps. I’m gonna stop her,” said the officer. “It’s almost like they be waiting … want confrontation.”

21. Credible is a subjective term:
All I can find at the moment is, of course, Faux News:

However, it is a video and I do believe it happened as is illustrated.

25. Indeed, it's alittle hard to fudge a video
I'd still like to know who the dude was who was ranting about Jews and Uncle Tom's and such. Near as I can tell Hank Johnson doesn't really deserve to be called an Uncle Tom merely for daring to run against Ms. McKinney.

9. Cynthia is anything BUT racist...
Please present examples, and not ones from the MSM.

Be careful what you read and ear re: Cynthia. Many of her comments were taken out of context.

She is not a racist at all, but she does speak out against racism/sexism/homophobia and her record speaks for itself.

I'm sorry she lost, but I got over it and will back Johnson.
I'm not ashamed of her.
Too bad so many folks here keep bringing her up and keep bashing her. Kinda like beating a dead horse.
No flaming intended.
Just my two cents.
BTW, I'm a WF.

The primary is over.

The time is for reconciliation or at least a semblance of a cease fire on McKinney.
