11. No problem for me!
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 09:12 PM by Old and In the Way
I'll happily support ANY of the Democratic candidates, whomever might get the nomination. I guess that's why I'm proud to say I'm a Democrat. If you don't believe my post, you can check my thread history....never, ever jumped on a candidate bashing thread (except to defend the candidate), never will.

How about you? Will you happily support the nominee?

18. Supreme Court
I've said 100 times the Supreme Court trumps every other feeling I might have about any Democratic candidate.

6. Pete I think you mean well
but most Dean supporters (Clark and Kucinich supporters also)are very attached to their prospective candidates. If Dean does not prevail their will be a grieving process that needs to take place because most of us have worked hard for Dean and believe he is the best candidate. Please be sensitive to this, or you are just going to get smacked down by some angry Dean supporters who are not ready coronate Kerry. IMHO.

10. I agree
and think you are a sensitive poster who I respect from what I have read, but talking with other Dean supporters who again have worked hard for him, they are not ready to give up until Dean does.

I think that whomever prevails as the candidate, after some time has gone by and acceptance takes place the priority of ousting Bush=Satan out of office will take the highest priority.

15. I can relate.......watched 2 Kennedy's get assassinated
had the same kind of attachment to McGovern in 72. Hart in '84. Not easy to see someone you have invested emotional/financial capital in, go down. But this is the nature of politics....the trick is to not demonize the person who opposes your favorite. We have to remember we are Democrats 1st, candidate supporters 2nd.

9. lets talk about emotions
the entire basis of the herd voting for Kerry is emotion(fear).
One can't promote fear and ask to rise above emotion at the same time.
Or are we going to pick and choose in order to rationalize?

12. After the things that Kerry and DLC/DNC have done to try
to destroy Dean don't come talking unity now. Terry the traitor head of the DNC can kiss it. They need to realize that right now we see them as little more than a branch of the RNC. In time we may vote for the designated loser they have chosen but not unless they start speaking like democrats and not Bush lite.

13. I would agree, but..
Sorry-- some folks are as raw as others. This attitude of "rising above" and "getting over it" (nb: not voiced in this thread, but in others) etc. is old and tired.

When the convention takes place all will be well. Until then--these messages ring hollow for some of us, no matter how sincere.

I'm serious about the sincerity issue as well. As well as the ringing hollow. Too much rhetorical blood has been spilled, and I for one do not feel that some on these boards deserve a Democratic president (but I'll fight to the end that they get one) due to their actions.

We all will move together and fight together in a legal political fashion to make sure the * and his ilk are removed.

I, for one, would like a candidate who offers a clear option to the current regime. One that can garner the vitality that is the Democratic base--not one who wins in a "politics as usual" fashion. Why? I fear this will turn off voters (no, not the true supporters of the other candidates, but those who don't pay attention to the process until the end) On the board, we tend to forget the serious amount of sheer apathy and ignorance on the part of our fellow citizens. (BTW--for those media types who love to quote boards--I'll stand by that statement-- you have the stats to prove me right)

We need a candidate who is different--not just from * but from the "politics as usual." Hopefully in the end--whoever is designated as the nominee will realize that.

As for current display of "peace-making" sorry-- been there, done that and got spat in the face (figuratively).

I know where I stand on the issues and candidates and more importantly why-- I also know why I don't support certain candidates. The reasons haven't changed, so why should I be any less committed for or against certain candidates. To thine own self be true.

14. I agree with you Pete
I tried to extend a peace offering to the Dean supporters, and a larger number--not all--of them ripped ME. Imagine how I felt when an angry Dean supporter called me a DLC operative :eyes:

20. Doncha know, all non-Dean supporters
are DLC/PNAC/Rove operatives, especially us Kerry folk, who control the world via Skull n Bones. When Kerry wins, the black helicopters will come to secretly escort us to our secret Shadow Government headquarters, where Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld and the rest of our brothers will congratulate us on a job well done.

16. I'm not exactly angry about Dean being behind in delegates.
I'm prepared now for the fact that he may actually leave the race. But I don't want the Democratic Party to get complacent.

Levelheadedness is a scourge to this board.

Nice try, though.

Dammit.
