16. Who are you calling DLC tool? You support a libertarian
Gephardt was the most far to the left bar Kucinich. He is not part of the DLC anymore/

17. Gephardt isn't part of DLC. That was an inaccurate claim by you, slink.
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 08:14 PM by blm
Kerry is the furthest left of the DLC and pulled leftward while centrists like Dean were pulling the DLC further right.

Thankfully real liberals were there in the DLC to counter the corporatist centrist like Howard Dean.

Thankyou John Kerry

22. Well if the unions are going to Kerry then why did Gephardt lose so
badly in Iowa? Union workers are some of the most dedicated organizers in the country.

25. Because...
turnouts in Iowa were so high. Because organization on the ground was less important than people expected.

6. This is a risk for Kerry.
I think it will re-open his case for consideration by Dem voters. If anything reinforces the perception that Kerry is the insiders' candidate, it is an endorsement by Gephardt.

9. Nailed. To the point.
Very good, Gulliver.

A Gephardt endorsement at this point will show that it's an insider endorsing an insider. I would not be surprised if Lieberman follows suit -- this way, it shows that the DLC folks are in this thing together.

In Iowa, it's quite shameful that Gephardt asked his voters to make Kerry viable, and that is the beginning of a true tragedy if Kerry is nominated.

Kerry supporters, I'd like to know why you would vote for an elitist that doesn't even give a second look to commoners? And votes only for himself, not his constitutents?

14. No. I based it on his history
I'm sure, Mr. Pitt, that you know that there are issues that people do overlook - for example, the Patriot Act which was clearly rammed through without looking at the law itself. The IWR vote, despite his MANY consitutency calling his office to vote NO, was completely ignored by Kerry and voted where the wind blows.

I guess the 2002 mid-terms has taught you absolutely nothing. I have been lurking a long time here, and I do remember that you *did* try to comfort us after the disaster of the mid-term elections, but I guess you convienently forgot. If I had the search option, I'm sure I can dig it up from the archives of November 2002 and show it to you.

So we're looking at a person by the name of John Kerry that has tried to co-opt Howard Dean's message and tried to make it his own - with success. As a result, Kerry is viewed the "safe" alternative to a better person - Howard Dean.

Let the people listen to Howard Dean and speak for themselves. I know you're a Kerry supporter, and it's quite puzzling to me why you, Mr. Pitt, are a press secretary for the Kucinich campaign. What do you hope to get from this? A book about the Kucinich campaign? The progressive left? I don't know, but one thing I know - I won't be reading it, because I know it'll be full of fluff and truly no substance.

13. Congratulations to Kerry and his supporters
I'm not a huge Geppy fan, but it's good for his campaign (and for Gep, too). Get would make a good running mate for Kerry--the midwest and the rustbelt, not the south, will be the battleground in this election--so prepare to see more of Gep's eyebrow-less face in the upcoming months.
