Pssst! GOP! (Act Like You Don't Know Me)
Pssst! GOP! (Act Like You Don’t Know Me)
By Nancy Greggs

I hope you guys appreciate that I’ve literally put my life on the line by getting this information out to you. You have NO idea how pissed-off people are at you Republicans, and the people on this website would KILL me if they knew I was giving you a head’s-up on the current situation this close to the mid-terms.

So the minute you read this, delete it – and don’t ever tell a SOUL where it came from.

So, here’s the scoop. I’ve compiled a list of people who you should be trying to win back. Of course, the fact that you are in total control of the government – which is pretty fu*ked up, man, no offence – is going to make it almost TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE to blame anything on the Democrats. But maybe it’s not too late to turn the tide.

Well, for what it’s worth, here goes – a list of the people who will NOT be voting for you in November:

THE PEOPLE who were victims of Katrina, their friends, their relatives, and anyone who watched the TV coverage of the non-response from the government.

THE PEOPLE who have lost children, spouses, siblings, neighbors or friends in Iraq while you voted for cutting veterans’ benefits, and voted against funding for body armor, vehicle armor and helmet-inserts.

THE PEOPLE who are seeing the utter chaos and out-of-control violence in Baghdad, while you blather on about the wisdom of ‘staying the course’.

THE PEOPLE who have been lectured about family values and honesty in government by the same Republicans they’ve seen indicted on morals, fraud and bribe-taking charges.

THE PEOPLE who have listened to Ted Stevens explain the internetz, and Brownback with his cartoons of talking frozen embryos, and think all of your party members are either (a) insane, or (b) have access to much better drugs than they do.

THE PEOPLE who have noticed that while they’re getting poorer, you are all getting richer – and like a LOT richer.

THE PEOPLE who have long suspected that Bush is an idiot – change that to the people who saw the tapes of Bush at the G-8 Summit and KNOW he’s an idiot.

THE PEOPLE who have lost their jobs, their homes, their pensions, their savings, and their medical coverage while you make speeches about how well the economy is doing.

THE PEOPLE who have woken up to the fact that while they’re paying three-bucks-plus at the gas pump, you handed out tax subsidies to the oil companies – not to mention the people who can hardly afford the gas to get to work while you fly all around the country, on their dime, to investigate the impact of gay marriage on society.

THE PEOPLE who believed you when you said you would make the country safe from terrorism, while watching you hand over the control of US ports to foreign nations with ties to terrorist organizations.

THE PEOPLE who believe in the Constitution, who are aware of the fact that you allow the president to side-step that Constitution whenever he feels like it, which is pretty Goddamned often – okay, which is pretty Goddamned ALL THE TIME.

THE PEOPLE whose kids are going to sub-standard, under-funded public schools while your kids are attending well-funded private schools – which you can afford, thanks to the raises you keep giving yourselves at the taxpayers’ expense.

THE PEOPLE who have watched their tax dollars being hand-delivered, with a ribbon on the box, to companies like Halliburton while you sign the gift card with XXXXs and OOOOs.

THE PEOPLE who have tried to explain their problems to you, while you put your fingers in your ears and sing “la-di-dah” like some really bad Diane Keaton/Annie Hall impression.

THE PEOPLE who have seen the photos from Abu Ghraib, or have read about rendition and secret prisons, while you brag about your support of this Administration based on your belief in good Christian values.

THE PEOPLE who – oh, shit, someone just walked into the office next door. I’ve gotta go – let me finish this quick, while I have the time:

THE PEOPLE who can read, THE PEOPLE who log-on to the internetz, THE PEOPLE who have an IQ over 50, THE PEOPLE who are not in a coma, THE PEOPLE who voted for you last time and realized they’ve been totally screwed, THE PEOPLE who wonder why you’re running the country when they have really dumb cats who have a better grasp of domestic and foreign policy then you do – sorry, man, but I’ve got to stop there, before I get caught.

Just one last thing before I hit the ‘SEND’ button and hope it’s not too late: I don’t want to be pessimistic about your chances this year, but I regularly log-on to a gambling website, and four out of five Diebold execs are putting their money on the Democrats.

REALLY, gotta go now – so print this, delete the original from your email Inbox, and if anyone catches you with the hard copy, just shove it your mouth and swallow it.

Oh, yeah – try not to choke to death. And remember, you NEVER heard it from me, right?

Cool. I KNEW I could trust you, man

... but let's keep this between you and me. I don't want anyone to know I'm tipping off the 'other side' to what's going on.

As you can see from the way the economy, the war in Iraq, and everything else is going, these people are some pretty smart cookies and ...

That's never stopped them before, why should it now?

14. And they'll keep trying ...
... only now it's not sticking (as you can see from the poll numbers that keep favouring Dems among likely voters over Repubs).

It's finally dawning on even some of the brain-dead out there that when one party has the majority of the votes, plus the WH, and things are going this badly, they can't point the finger of blame at the minority whose policies have been voted down time and time again.

They have only one possible strategy left - and they might get desparate enough to use it: "The Democrats broke into our offices, held guns to our heads, and MADE us wreck the country!!!"

25. You left out the hijacking of the Christian religion and the airwaves,
decimating pollution research and our national forests and no minimum wage increase for nearly ten years. For turning the natural child of the Enlightenment into a security state turning out children who are taught by memorizing the answers to standardized tests with no room for critical thinking or research skills development. For turning the American working class into a neo-serfdom whose very continued existance is in doubt as job after job is outsourced to countries with no regard for its oppressed citizenry's basic human rights. For cloaking yourselves with the flag when few of you have served in the armed services or regard your oaths of office as a solemn duty. For foisting sham elections upon us with large numbers of probable dissenters silenced from their right and duty to vote by purging the polls. For having refused to allow the Supreme Court to order the recount of very close elections in a purely partisan decision. For refusing commerce and cultural interchange with a nearby island nation which presents no possible harm to the United States. For having imported large amounts of foreign workers with below standard wages and no political rights to islands which fly our flag as near-slave labor. For having created an aristocracy with new titles: those of capitalist, politician, pundit, CEO and CFO. For having lost the will of the people, instead trying to make them live in constant fear of a small group which your government set among us and ignoring all intelligence that warned of their possible plans. For having manufactured lies most outrageous to goad the Congress into a blanket Enabling Act much as Hitler did after the Reichstag fire without a declaration of war. For having said we are in a war yet trying to reduce the taxes of those who should most be paying for said war, i.e., the oil corporations and the weapons manufacturors. For having failed to have captured the culprits of the September 2001 attacks with unnecessary loss of life of civilians and our military and allies, yet managing to wage war against a country which presented no possible ill will or capacity of waging war against us.

For every one of these, we the people hold the Republican Party, those Democrats who act as their shills, the administration, George W. Bush, the entire cabinet, Dick Cheney, and the Congress as a whole responsible. You have fostered discontent and abandonded your basic purpose in the pursuit of a strangle hold on our voices, our livelihoods and our natural resources and our future.

Therefore, be it resolved, that you all suck and need to go to work as WalMart greeters...

27. Treason!
What has gotten into you, woman?

You actually use these pages to aid and abet the enemy!
How dare you tell them what's wrong with them and give
them a shot at cleaning up their act? I'm frankly appalled.

The only thing that gives me solace is the fact that today's
Republican Party is so far out in it's right-tilting orbit,
that they will not listen to your advice any more than the sun
will rise in the west tomorrow. They will not move toward the
center, they will continue to ignore the law, the Constitution,
and the intent of the founding fathers of our country. They will
continue to promote their brand of religion like the ayatollahs
in ties they are, and they will not give in to abhorent, foreign
concepts such as decency or common sense.

So there! Your betrayal of us was all for naught, nyahh, nyahh!

36. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!
But I do want to think for a minute about my "friends and neighbors" (what with--sigh--living in a red state and all). Okay--the folks from Katrina? They deserved it, what with being scumbags and all. Iraq? We're fightin' 'em there, so we don't have to fight 'em here. Goll, can you imagine what it would be like if that there Kerry guy was prezydent? (Actually, I do--that and Gore. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!)

And them gays--can't have 'em marryin.' Jesus SAID. And preventing gay marriage is more important than corruption in government, health care, or raising the minimum wage.

Cain't have no abortions. God don't want none. And we can't have people like Terri Schiavo STARVE like she did.

Don't want no education. All them perfessors in college is all them New Age devils. I don't want MY children learning about things like EVOLUTION--that's just a theory after all. :eyes:

Our pretzeldent STILL has support around here. Lots of W bumper stickers STILL in evidence. But I do agree with one of the letter writers to our local paper--those bumper stickers are one way of saying "stupid and PROUD of it."

42. Yep.
It never ceases to amaze me that some people think that the Bible is the basis of American law when in fact American law grew out of English common law. It also amazes me that some people still consider the New Testament applicable after 2000 years. I've always considered the Bible a history book, not a law book.

I once read that there was a legislator in one state who made a remark in a panel discussion with a law professor on the topic of gay marriage that the Bible says that marriage is only applicable between a man and a woman. The professor's rejoinder--which I consider to be right on the mark--was that this same legislator (as does every other public official in the United States) did not swear an oath on the Constitution to uphold the Bible, but swore an oath on the Bible to uphold the Constitution. My personal thought on the matter is that the men who met in Philadelphia in 1787 to create the Constitution of the United States were not there to debate about making the Bible the law of the land, but wanted to create a form of government that would enable them to enjoy the freedom they had won during the Revolution and to separate politics and religion as they didn't want to debate about the issue of "What should be the national religion of this country?" as (1) many were Deists who believed in God on the basis of reason as opposed to revelation, and (2) that there were a number of sects--then as now--who were afraid of governmental control of religion as in Europe as they had been persecuted for their views.

Honestly We have NOT heard enough from y'all. What happened is a travesty in far too many ways. To say I'm horrified and disgusted with what happened is not even close to how >I< feel. What bothers me even more however... is how the rest of the devastated south was almost COMPLETELY IGNORED!

IF The dem's want an issue, there it is. They don't even have to TRY! Just state the facts, over and over, and over again!

I can only offer my thoughts n prayers for y'all... as I'm almost as broke as a GOP-er's moral compass (assuming they have one).
