Lamont/Lieberman Observation
The fact that Lamont is pulling ahead of Lieberman is astounding especially considering the amount of money the two candidates have raised.

As of Friday, Lieberman has raised $8,464,769 while Lamont has raised $776,880.

The Republican has raised $20,350. Pretty sure there is no fear of him winning.

1. I have a hunch Lamont's fundraising just took off big time..
And I mean.. before the last reporting date. He's had a LOT of positive media in the past two weeks...

2. Lamont is conducting his campaign the old-fasioned way:
By going directly to the people of Connecticut. Whether he's at the Puerto Rican Day Parade in Bridgeport or a meet-and-greet at the house of a civil-rights lawyer in Windham, Lamont has racked up beaucoup miles on his car driving all over Connecticut to talk and listen to us. And the strategy works!

10. The nerve of him!
Doesn't he know Senate seats are bequeathed to those who kiss up to Bushco and friends most fervently?

:sarcasm:

3. When Lieberman announced he would go the petition route, he was basically
throwing in the towel on the primary.

6. that leaves him with
a lot of money for the 3-way race.

Which is really a 2-way race since the Republican is a non-factor.

Which basically makes Lieberman the de facto Republican in the race.

4. Isn't it true that Lamont, 'til recently, has been largely self-financed?
Not to take away from your essential point, but that fundraising disparity could be attributed, at least in part, to Lamont using his own money.

Don't take that as criticism of Lamont .... just an observation.

7. Good for him!
There's a lot of arrogant, greedy politicians who wouldn't think of using one single dime of their own money... no matter how much they have.

Truly is amazing he's darting past Lieberman when you compare the funds they've each had!

9. Lieberman's Financing Mainly from Out of State!
Edited on Mon Jul-24-06 01:17 AM by neoblues
I've read where the vast majority of Lieberman's finances have actually come in from outside Connecticut! From rather large Corporate donors (of course).

11. The breakdown is 80/20
80% of Lieberman's contributions are out of state.

To be fair, 54% of Lamont's are out of state as well.

14. "54% of Lamont's are out of state as well."
It should, however, be noted that Lamont's donations come from private citizens, not corporate benefactors and PACs. Lamont refuses to accept money from either of those entities.

Just one more reason I'm voting for Ned Lamont on 8/8!

12. Even from back in 2000

From 2000... (concerns raised when he was being considered for 2004 v.p. run)

Alas, conveniently, as of a week ago, the Lieberman Camp hasn't yet release any details of exactly who is behind his current dontations (totals yes, names no). That, while Lamont has published information about who has donated to him. See:
