Get Behind ABB in 2004!!!!
I'm a Clark supporter, and also like Dean. In fact, Edwards is number three and Kerry is at the bottom for me. I will still vote for Clark in the primary.

HOWEVER, right now all of us should be changing gears. Kerry is riding high, and in all likelihood will get the Democratic Nomination. Bashing Kerry is not going to help us in November and now is the time to start flying our ABB banners high. For many of us, Kerry may not be our favorite. Many things he's done in the past 3 years make us wary.

However, we need to start focusing on the positive here - and start identifying why Kerry would make a better president than Bush to the American public. We need to start making our case.

We can win this one, DU'ers! The polls our in our favor for a popular win - we just need to push hard to make this an electoral win as well.

10. Ummmm voting green perpetuates the nightmare
Sorry to break this to you but a vote for Nader/Camejo/etc is a vote for BUSH!

I am truly sorry I ever voted for Nader in 2000 - even though it was in California.

Please, think of the future. You can send your "message" some other time.

13. No it's not. It's a vote a against bush. Unlike the IWR vote by K&E.
How about the Democratic Party comes after the left instead of the right this time?

15. This is going into flame war territory
And I realize its not going do anything to convince you but....

Your vote is one that could remove Bush from office, or it could support a candidate who WILL NOT WIN (sorry, America is not going to wake up with some kind of epiphany and vote Green all of a sudden) and will not take away support from Bush. The Green will be a spoiler, who will divide the left's votes, causing Kerry or whomever to not obtain the majority.

Let's just say Kerry is the corporate supporter that many say he is. He will still not:

- Extend the PATRIOT act (he voted against it)
- Support the PNAC agenda (he is dead set against new wars)
- Keep the Iraq occupation as it is (he right now supports UN control of the region)

This alone will make things better.

Now if Bush wins again, don't expect there to be a free election in the US for a while. They will still hold the Presidency, Congress and the Supreme Court. Diebold voting machines will be the standard, and no one will know for sure who gets the most votes.

This election is quite possibly the most important in American history. Our very Democracy depends on it. Please don't throw away your vote to send a quixtotic message.

18. Very good arguments. But..
I appreciate you not turning this into an insult match. And, I have considered your arguments. That Kerry would be a much better president than Bush goes without saying. A boiled turnip would be an improvement over the boob infesting the WH now.

If it were almost any other issue, I would probably hold my nose and vote for Kerry (or, Edwards). But, there are 20,000+ dead people that are the "collateral damage" as a result of an unjustified invasion of a sovereign nation that was given approval by Kerry and Edwards.

I can hardly accuse them of a cynical lack of ethics that cost lives and then vote for them at the cost of my own principles.

It's a bridge too far.

21. But...keep in mind
Kerry realizes that was a mistake. He wants us out now. I hate to keep making the LBJ comparisons, and unlike LBJ he will get us out of the war.

Think of it this way - Bush wins and the war perpetuates, and we start new ones. The draft comes back. The triple digit deaths become a quadruple digit death count.

Kerry wins, and the war ends. We may have soldiers over there, but at least we won't have the WWIII that the PNAC predicts and wants.

Read the document put out by PNAC (http://www.newamericancentury.org/) and realize that is our future with Bush in charge. Kerry is not part of that organization.

24. I'll be wrestling with this right up to election day.
I'm not some wild-eyed college student (at, least not since '72) off on a rampage with ideals outweighing reality. All of your arguments are good and I have considered, and am still considering, them.

As for PNAC it's the fantasy of Pax Americana of a dying empire. As much as the neocons and their apologists strut and threaten, it can't be done.

Who knows? I may yet down a quart of Pepto-Bismol, don a clothespin, and vote, yet again, for a "not as bad" mediocrity and try to live with myself.

22. Yes, ABB, because....

....if we don't get behind Kerry in November to defeat Bush, we'll have 4 more nightmarish years of a President who initially supported the invason of Iraq, wants to keep the troops there now albeit with more international cover and supported the USA PATRIOT Act.

Wait. Hold on a second....

so I don't have to concentrate on it this early. I'll wait for the nominee to be determined. I've always told anyone and everyone why I think bush needs to be just one term.
