Well, Dean put out the call, its do or die time.. and MAN the bat is flying.

I got the email, not sure extactly when it went out this AM.

I'm going to cut N' paste here..

UPDATE, 10 AM: Between 9 and 10 AM this morning, Dean supporters raised $46,360 -- the single best fundraising hour of 2004.

UPDATE, 11 AM: Between 10 and 11 AM, Dean supporters raised $53,998 -- smashing the record they set an hour ago

Go DEAN!

7. Sadly, I'm withholding my next payment to Dean
At this time I have to start thinking with my heart and start thinking with my head. Dean has to prove he can win. He may be the best candidate, but if he can't convince people of that, it is pointless to financially support him.

I've given money, I've said my prayers, now Dean has to start providing a return on the investment.

It is very cynical of me, I know. I'm very demoralized at the moment about how he could have gone from an amazing lead to not winning any states so far. Coming in third in New Mexico hurt the most.

There has been a revolution in this election but it hasn't been in favor of the little guy, that's for certain. Dean still is my hope for the future of American politics, though.

13. That is why I love the Dean campaign so much
It truly inspires people. I just wish it could have reached more or helped people overcome their basic fears which has led them to vote for Kerry. Bringing change to people is one of the hardest things to do, but also one of the most admirable.

12. I've tenatively budgeted $75 for Feb 16
We'll know the true sanguinity of his campaign by then. Even if he drops, he may need the money to help cover debts and the like, so I'll probably still give the money. Sure as hell I'm not giving it to Kerry in order for Kerry to pay off the debt he incurred to beat Dean - that is pure craziness.

I still have faith, but right now, it is all about faith. I want something substantive.

24. LuminousX, I was actually thinking the same thing, until.......

it struck me that when I go to a K.C. Chief's game, it's so much fun to witness all the enthusiasm, and my anticipation of seeing my team win. Bingo, they don't win, and I go home disappointed, even upset, if you will, but they didn't return my ticket money when I left; but,
you know what? I'll go to the next game, and maybe they'll win. At any rate, they have my loyalty because I believe in them. I just contributed another $50.00 to Dean's campaingn to show him that I still believe in him.
:hi:  :dem:

26. I admire that passion
And trust me, I am envious of it. Something just kicked me this morning when I read Dean's email asking for $50 for Wisconsin. Since I was planning on giving $75 on the 16th, I figured I'd give $50 early. Then I stopped and if I may borrow your football analogy - I thought that the team may need to realize that the fan base needs a victory. Lovable losers only apply to teams who have a long losing streak. Otherwise, they are like the Bears, whose fans deride them fairly consistently.

I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from donating. I'm just saying that I am now waiting for a sign that it is worth it. He'll end up with my money on the 16th most likely, but I'm withholding $50 from this bat. This weekend he needs to do more than get points on the scoreboard.

49. urging you to think twice about this
The money raised before was not necessarily put to good use - Dean and Gep killed each other in Iowa with negative ads. I think now that the ship is being run a bit tighter - we may get more bang for our buck. I think you should reconsider donating. Dean has always had the message - but money, when used correctly, is an integral part of getting that message out.

28. Dean didn't spend 43 million dollars going into Iowa

Please try to realize that he has been campaigning for quite a while, and there are so many other expenses that have to be met, such as setting up offices, paying staff, and many other things. Surely, if the anti-Dean people have ever supported a family or even themselves, should know that you can't spend your whole paycheck on one particular thing. We pay our mortgage payments, etc., Dean may be a wealthy man, but, he can't match the Millionaire Senators in dollars. :silly:

And to answer the non Dean people who have been posting comments about how it didn't help him much.

*shrug*

Iowa hurt yes, and the media turn on the speech didn't help at all.

I'm sorry that Dean supporters aren't giving up until Dean does, I'm sorry that you have to go out of your way to make comments about Dean and his supporters raising cash.

Look, realisticly I know Dean has only a bare hair of a chance of pulling this out. But until he quits, the Dean supporters are with him. That simple. Hes OUR guy.. and we are sticking!

Mainly because of what Dean has already done for the Democratic party. Secondly, the campaign will have wind down costs. Thirdly, if you give the money to Kerry he will use it to pay off the debt he acquired to beat Dean, which means you would be giving money to help beat Dean.

When most of the other leaders were caving to Bush and it was considered unpatriotic to speak out against the war - Dean was speaking out against the war.

I've never been confused about Dean's position on Iraq.
I've never been confused about any of his positions.

He was my voice when I couldn't be heard. He stepped up when others shirked their responsibilities.

We're busting the bat into splinters tonight. :) Been clipping along at around $50,000/hour since 6 or 7 am. :) We have hope, we have purpose, and DAMN, we WANT this!

71. Once again, Dean supporters redefine the word "awesome"!
Congratulations, you guys. I may just have to donate a bit myself. Ok, not a lot, most of my money is going to go to Clark, but still, some tangible measure of recognition is in order here!

74. Dean's fundraising will be the story of this campaign
no wonder no one will say die.
Compare to Clarks goal: 700,000 in 7 days--we have like 350k so far.

78. Why can't people get it in their heads
that it is the movement that Dean is spokesperson for at this time and not just the Presidency. We the people have to take back the country because no one can do it but the people. Hell, everyone ought to jump on the bandwagon and join, movements are what brought change. Movements such as the civil rights movement which brought changes for Afro-Americans, the anti- war movement during Vietnam war which eventually got that war stopped. Until the masses see that it will take a movement people powered against the entrenched
powers that be and the corporate media no changes will occur for the betterment of the average American. Dislike the man if you must (Dean)but embrace the message and join the movement for your and the country's SALVATION. Perhaps rock bottom has to be reached before people wake up or maybe they have gone to sleep for good. I hope not!
