Canadian activist shunned by CBS for her views on George Bush
July 19, 2006 News Release

Ottawa - Maude Barlow, known internationally for her work on the right to water, was recently informed that she would not be interviewed by CBS News due to her criticisms of the Bush administration. “This is a clear offense of free speech,” says Barlow. “Viewers should be concerned by the network’s decision to prevent critical views from being heard.”

We should be enraged that in a so-called democratic society, the media refuses to put its best foot forward for the common good. Of course, this is only one example of how poorly our press is serving us--and at a time when we need to be exposed to all sides of every critical issue facing us. It's sad that the Maude Barlows of this world are having such a tough time trying to help change a wide variety of agendas so that the masses will prevail over the elite few of rich and powerful people.

11. Thanks, Reckon
Love your avatar by the way. What a bloody shame Gore is not representing the U.S. as head honcho. He'd damn well command the respect of world leaders. What drives me crazy is that the U.S. has some of the brightest, honest, well educated people in the world today. And yet, the country of Uncle Sam comes up with one of the basest men alive to serve as president. Why, oh why, oh why??!!!!

5. CBS is, simply put, a shill for the bush cabal, it has nothing to do
with being "Rathered", and, imo, CBS "Rathered" Rather BECAUSE they are shills for bush.

6. Maybe she should consider smiling more. And breast implants
always help. CBS NEWS likes its women perky and empty-headed like Katie Couric.

7. k & r ! She's against "Deep Integration", which is...
The blurring of boundaries between Canada and US, to allow Big Business to have their way, including privatized health care, and control of the Canadian military by the Pentagon...

10. Any journalist with self-respect should leave. Make them hire the dregs
they deserve, like foxbots, then maybe the less informed will realize CBS is at best tabloid now.
Of course Katie Couric was an excellent indicator of where they're trending.

12. "Liberal media", my ass...
If the media were even remotely liberal, they'd jump on a chance to interview Maude Barlow.

She's feisty, intellligent and determined. Unfortunately, she's also an anti-corporatist liberal, so she'll never get any American airtime.
