Media Pushes Iran Talking Points
Today the media is pushing the idea that Iran is helping Hezbollah. Media members are saying that Hezbollah could not have pulled off its recent efforts without the help of Iran. I would have like it if the media has question whether Iran was really helping Hezballah instead of just pushing the talking point that they were.

1. It isn't a fucking talking point.
Jesus christ, the links between Syria, Iran, and Hezbollah are well established, and denying it is foolish.

4. The American public are being set up for another Gulf of Tonkin incident
The narrative is unfolding according to the usual pattern. A series of provocations are conflated into a rationale for war. Something happens, but it it isn't clear who did what. But, that's enough to launch the strike aircraft, and then all hell breaks lose. Undeniably.

"You just stay there and write the story. I'll supply the war." - William Randolph Hearst

5. Jesus fucking christ.
I'm amazed that I even have to point this out on a forum that is supposedly for progressives, but THE ENTIRE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND THE UNITED STATES.

Is it so inconceivable that there could be a conflict somewhere in the world that really has nothing at all to do with America?

This isn't a "set-up" for anything. This isn't even a new conflict. Are you really so ignorant of the political reality and history of Israel to believe that this is just some Bushco plot?

6. There would be no Israel, as it exists today, without the U.S.
Tail wagging the dog, but it's a tail. No separating the two. One would have to be an idiot to argue otherwise.

7. Yes.
The fact that the United States supports Israel does not make us Israel's puppet. It does not make Israel our puppet. It does not mean that Israel does not have its own politics and problems distinct from those of the United States.

Without the United States there probably wouldn't be a United Kingdom. That does not make "the troubles" with the IRA an American government plot.

So yes, you can separate the US and Israel because they are not the same thing. This attitude is part of the reason that Americans are viewed as being such self-centered myopics by the rest of the world.

2. I'd like to know why the media isn't pushing the Bush failure to
know how many and what type missiles Hezbollah has. Isn't this a complete intelligence failure? They are all registering their surprise at how far these missiles can travel and they even have silk worm guided missiles. This failure is so huge that all they can do is blame Iran and Syria. And I'm not saying they may not be involved. After Iraq, you would think the media would like to get it right and point blame at Bush. But no. Again they want to just follow what Bush tells them.

3. Any bets on when "Iran" helps sink the cruise ship full of evacuees?
I mean, hell, what better way for Bush to get us into his next war...sink a ship full of Americans. That is an act of war in any language, and it would require no action from Congress for anything. Bush could start bombing five minutes after the last bubbles rose to the surface.

What is really sad, though, is that our administration is so totally based upon lies, fraud and deceit that a scenerio like this is even thinkable.

Was this a great country, or what?

8. Why is it criminal for the Hezbollah to help Lebanon when we help Israel?
