Question about Campaign laws
the campaign lit for the vulnerable incumbant republican in my district says the word "Independent" in big bold letters under his name. other then the "paid for by gop blah blah" on the back, at the bottom, in fine print, it doesn't mention bush, republican, gop, etc. - i dont even think he had an R next to his name. He is clearly trying to run away from his record in our slightly-democratic leaning district, but is that legal for him to imply or boldly suggest he is an independent?

1. i'm fairly certain he can say whatever he wants in the campaign lit
as long as he says where his money is coming from.

but on the ballot, it sounds like he'll be listed as a republican, and he might suffer from voter confusion -- though he's clearly thinks that voter confusion will be a net gain for him.
