They will pull the ad, probably give a simpering, tearful apology as well.

10. Really? I think Emmanuel will stand fast.
I don't like him very much, but I think this is his money moment. I'll bet he sticks to his guns and doesn't budge a single inch. If hangs tough, I'll break my own rule and send him $25.00 and tell him why. Despite the fact I still hold a grudge over Illinois CD-6.

I'll send him a check with my reason for doing so if you are right.

Deal?

Since you posted the link and wrote, I also wrote and sent the link to my other email friends who aren't here at DU!

So everyone else, just write them for the hell of it! If they pulled it, for shame.... if not, give them support!

17. The issue under discussion is not the war...
But the political commercial and the reaction we should have if it is pulled. That issue alone is not big enough to turn into a internacine political war played out on the national news.

32. Flat wrong- the CONTENT of the ad is indeed about the war.
Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 07:25 PM by Dr Fate
It is an all encompassing, major issue, involving life or death.

For some, refusal to fully discuss or to be aggressive on the issue of war is fine.

For others, it is not.

Sorry- but I'm focusing on the CONTENT of the ad, not the general existence of one ad or another.

16. Didn't You See All The Repukes Lined Up Condemning The Ads
yesterday?? I can't remember ALL of them, but they were out there in CLUMPS taking turns to get to the "mike" and denouncing the Democrats for using "soldiers deaths" for political gain!

Keith also had a segment on his show last night. The Repukes are throwing a hissy fit, and it seems Chet Edwards, D, Texas and another Democratic representative from S.C. are calling on Rahm Emmanuel to pull the ads.

I'm sure there will be MORE Dems out there soon...

He full of righteous indignation, his voice was a quiver with barely concealed rage at the thoughtlessness of those dirty democrats as he demanded a speedy apology to all soldier's families.

28. The Republicans should apologize for the 9-11 deaths and Iraq soldiers dea
They provoked the 9-11 attacks and led the drive to invade Iraq which led to 2,500 soldiers deaths and 30,000 Iraqi civilians.

....aren't doing much about the rise of Fascism and the assault on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I've given up on most of them.

I highly doubt that they'll do anything, once things get worse--in a very short while. If they aren't brave enough
to speak up when the problems are medium sized, it's unlikely that they'll step up the plate when we've got HUGE, MAJOR
obstacles.

the cock of the walk! If their bitching and whining gets the ad pulled who's going to see it.

Furthermore, getting it pulled just shows the American people who is willing to kick who in the ass and get away with it! It will just mean that once again all they have to do is say to the Democrats.... JUMP and the Democrats say How High??

34. I Just Wrote Them And Told Them How Disappointed I Am!
Thanks for the link.

I also asked them why THEY can't "for once" just stand up for what they believe in. I'm sure they spent a GREAT deal of money making the ad, but now they just turn tail and sit in the corner.

There was NOTHING wrong with the ad, NOTHING that was any more offensive than what the other side has done over and over and over and over. And it's the truth too! Why should we contribute if they are just going to waste money this way??

Oh, I just have to SHUT UP now before I work myself into a real frenzy!!

They're coming to take me away today, they're coming to take me away! Ho, Ho, Ha, Ha, Hee, Hee! They're coming to take me AWAY!

Coffins (89+ / 0-)
Yes, it is hypocritical. It was the Republican's bad policies, and Bush's misguided leadership that created the circumstances in which our soldiers and Marines are dying. These pictures are not disrespectful - at least, not of the men and women who sacrificed. They simply remind the viewers of the cost of Bush's mistaken policies. And hopefully, they help voters understand that the Administration which bungled all this should be held accountable!

44. Here's what I wrote:
"So once again, as many of us expected, you caved into the whining from the GOP about your very excellent ad because it contained a few seconds of flag-draped coffins.

What the hell is wrong with you people? No wonder the Democrats keep losing elections! Don't you have any spines at all? There was nothing wrong with that ad -- nothing at all. The coffins are reality and they are there because of what Bush and the Republicans have done. We show the world the truth, the GOP screams "Unfair!" and the Democrats cower, run away and lie by their dish like so many whipped dogs.

Dammit, grow a pair. I am so tired of your feckless, spineless "representation" -- or the lack of it -- that I could scream.

I'm putting my checkbook away until you guys figure out that what we want is leaders who lead."

45. My Response Was A Little Shorter... But I Basically Said The
SAME thing. I also told them that I thought it might be useful if I contacted ALL my friends and tell them to "sit" the 06 election out. Just LET the Repukes have it because if what they keep doing is an indication of what to expect if Dems were to take over, I'm not sure I wanted to be a part of it.

Of course, I WILL vote but just wanted to let them know how I felt. I think we need to keep letting them know how we feel. I also mentioned the fact that IF they were going to spend good money on an ad, then just back down when they encounter any push back, why should they expect any donations from anyone. There's ENOUGH waste going around and if they had that kind of money to throw away they obviously didn't need any extra to burn.

I wrote to my other email friends to tell them to contact DCCC too.

42. Why Do You Feel The Ad Is A Mistake???
When the Repukes have done so so so much hyping about how The Idiot PROTECTED America from attacks, and how patriotic his actions were, then THEY use the backdrop of the towers to spout that PATRIOTISM, how hypocritical of them to call FOUL!!

Democrats have EVERY right to use the scenes of WAR, to show just how destructive and painful it can be. I for one feel the ad NEEDS lots of attention! I have never felt WAR was an answer to anything. Oh sure, many people get to line their pockets, but I'm not one of them. And even if I were, I still think WAR is the last possible option one should EVER take!

And THIS so-called WAR was an invasion anyway!
