GOP Howling Over Democratic Web Ad
Republicans are howling over a Democratic political Web site ad that displays flag-draped coffins and a fake police mug shot of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, arguing that the ad politicizes war casualties and is an insult to the families of the troops killed in Iraq.

The 75-second ad by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee begins with a somber musical score and images of war, high gas prices, the coffins, pollution, breached levees, followed by pictures of Texas Republican DeLay, disgraced GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff, President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

(snip)

``For the Democrats, everthing is about politics,'' said Rep. Tom Reynolds, R-N.Y., chairman of the Republican campaign committee. ``This crosses the line.''

(snip)
``Was it despicable when Republicans used 9/11 for political purposes?'' House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said to reporters Thursday. ``I think it's despicable that young people's lives are being lost ... over 2,500. Republicans are in denial about that.''

Says a member of the party that has consistently exploited 9/11 and the fear that was generated from it ever since the fact.

This isn't playing politics. It's showing what really happens in war. Are these guys so desperate that they'll make an issue out of something stupid like this?

Sure wouldn't want anybody to be offended to see Bush's war dead. :sarcasm:

16. Refresh my memory. Who was it that had an ad showing a body
being carried from the site of the WTC? Was it Bush? IIRC they argued at that time that it wasn't exploiting the dead because there was no way to tell whose body it was and that it just represented those who died on 9/11.

4. Republicans have no irony gene.
``For the Democrats, everthing is about politics,'' said Rep. Tom Reynolds, R-N.Y. Yeah, because Republicans are such consensus builders in our national politics. What a joke. Bunch of WATB hypocrites.

6. If they're howling...
Then, the ad is good. We can't continue to deal politely with them. We only get smacked down in thanks.

7. Lets get this straight. When They pay newz organizations to run their
propaganda, that is education.
When we show the truth, that is politicizing someone's loss right?

8. All this phony outrage
from the folks who took the politicization of 9/11 to extremes that even the most cynical could not imagine.

All the Dems are doing is point out that politicization. No wonder the Repugs have their panties in a twist.

The kids in the coffins are dead. That is a far greater insult to the families than pointing out the hypocrisy of the Republican spin machine.
