If Joe L. wins the primary & election, do you think he'll switch parties?

I mean as an act of thumbing his nose for being put through the heat.

I was disturbed by that Republican strategist Ed What's-his-name that was a guest on Hardball yesterday. He kept saying over and over "Joe, come home to the big tent!". And this has me wondering what Joe might do now that so many Dems say they won't support him if he runs as an Independent. That must rankle him.

2. Joe will NOT change parties.

Joe has always been a democrat and will continue to stay on the side of democrats. Many of his beliefs outside of the Iraq war do not agree with the Pubs views and really are democratic views.

10. If he were such an unmistakeable Democrat he'd have nothing to worry

about in the primary, would he? Look, the truth is that neither you nor I can say with certainty that we know what he will do. But based on how he is treating the Democratic Party right now--his refusal to abide by the decision of Democratic voters in the primary, his refusal to support the winner if it's not him--he sure isn't looking like a very loyal Democrat at all. Didn't you hear him say he has loyalties that are greater than those to his party?

This is Joe's second act in that regard. When he continued to run for reelection to the Senate in 2000 while simultaneously running for Vice President he showed huge disregard for his party. If he had become VP and had to resign his Senate seat, that would have given the Republican governor of CT a chance to appoint a Republican to his seat! Way to help out your party, Mr L!

I wouldn't trust Joe Lieberman as far as I could throw him.

There is not one credible source of information where Lieberman has ever threatened to become a Republican.


Even his independent run -- should it happen -- doesn't mean he has to stop being a Democrat. And he would caucus with Democrats anyway.

It would not surprise me at all. He'll probably use the reagan line of "I didn't leave my party, my party left me" or something to that effect. I also would not be surprised if he doesn't win the primary he will run as the Republican candidate.

explodes. He'll rub his victory into the progressive bloggers, who will still despise him, and he'll seek revenge against groups like NOW, AFT, CEA and CT DTC members, like me, who dared to oppose him. He'll demand that progressive bloggers and his primary opponents fill his war chest coffers. The only thing I'll fill his coffers with is military enlistment forms for his family.

He gets more of the attention he desires by staying a Democrat, and operating as a spoiler.
