Kucinich predicts he'll get Dem Nomination in brokered convention
I've gained a LOT of respect for Kucinich. Gotta hand it to the guy, he is DETERMINED to get his message out.

http://www.cleveland.com/news/index.ssf?/news/more/ap/02kucinich04.html

(snip)
"The race for the nomination will go all the way to the convention," the congressman from Cleveland said. "It is at the convention where I will win the nomination, based on the emergence of Iraq as the defining issue."

He won't even be re-elected in his district. i love Kucinich but I can't imagine the party establishment is too happy with him.

9. He's run against the party establishment before, and WON
He won his district with 75% of the vote last time-- I have no doubt he'll do the same this year, especially with all the anti-Bush sentiment out there.

10. Since I'm from NE Ohio, and I know his district
He'll NEVER lose that district. EVER. It's so liberal that conservatives literally SHRIVEL up and die upon driving into it.

18. I don't believe it
Kucinich won his Congressional seat by defeating a Republican incumbent. So, the district has voted Republican in the past.

If the district has become "so liberal that conservatives literally SHRIVEL up and die upon driving into it," I guess that says a lot for DJK's persuasiveness!

23. Kucinich beat an incumbent Rep. BEFORE Redistricting in 2000
When they added about 10,000 hardcore Dem voters to his district, and eliminated a Dem district to the SW.

Trust me, he could wear a pink tutu and declare himself the "Queen" of Democratic politics, and still get reelected.

6. I want this guy to be my President.
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 11:44 PM by Stevie D
"Incredibly, you have Bush running for re-election on Iraq, which is the very issue that I can defeat him on," Kucinich told The Associated Press. "I'm going to pose this question: Why trade a Republican war for a Democratic war?"
______________________________________________________________________

I doubt his assertion regarding a brokered convention will come to pass, but his message really needs to be heard.

on edit to add from the article:

"We have a president who is saying he wants to get the facts and yet he sent people to war without the facts and we have Democratic front-runners who said they were misled and yet they sent people to war," Kucinich said. "Where's the accountability?"
______________________________________________________________________

Indeed. Where's the accountability? Where the hell is it?

15. I love Dennis, but there's no way in hell . . .
that he'd even be considered in a deadlocked convention . . . not on the first ballot, not on the 50th ballot . . . he's brought a lot of good ideas to the campaign, and I certainly respect and value his contributions, but his chances of getting nominated or elected are about zero . . .

21. Let's be realistic
he's got what? 1% of the vote or less in every primary thus far? No way, no how could this EVER happen. Pack it in; DK has a better chance of being Emperor of Mars than the Dem nominee for President. Kerry is a lock unless my man Edwards can pull out some surprise victories soon.

20. I was hoping we could all rally around the nominee soon.
If we're divided all the way until the convention, there is no way in hell that we'll win.

28. After the nominee is chosen, rally; until then, a platform must
be built, a VP chosen, etc. I'm Any Dem but Bush, count on it, anyting is better; but I want Dennis's voice at the convention.

Even supporters of the other candidates want him there; he's the conscience of the party I grew up with.

22. I hope that's not how he is justifying staying in the race.
That would be just a tad dishonest/delusional for my taste. Wanting to stay in the race to use it for a forum on issues is one thing. Justifying it by grasping at tiny straws is another.

30. He will drop out at the convention, unless he is guarnteed a chance
to speak at the convention beforehand; then he will endorse the nominee. I really think that is what he is after, and I'm a DK supporter, but I'm also realistic.

If he's heard at the convention, I'll be happy to vote for whoever is th nominee.
