Lest we forget..Murdoch is fund raising for Hillary
Thursday :: Jun 29, 2006
Squawking The Noo Yawk Party
by pessimist

We all know that Rupert Murdoch is getting very actively involved in politics. His efforts are currently based in New York, most particularly in fund raising for Hillary. I keep expecting it to be revealed that he will be involved in Lieberman's 'independent' campaign, and I also expect overtures to be made to the so-called Northeast moderates - Snowe and Collins of Maine, Sununu of New Hampshire, Chaffee of Rhode Island , and maybe George Voinovich of Ohio - to join the new 'centrist' third party predicted recently by Alan Greenspan.

If Murdoch was able to gain the support of all of these 'moderates' he would hold the balance of power in the Senate. But could he afford to lose one of these votes to the job of occupying the White House?

1. Hill, Bill, and the Dems will get the last laugh out of Murdoch's Money!
Don't worry about it... they know what they're doing.

As long as the R-THUGS think Hillary is running, they'll keep throwing money her way.

She knows that.. She also knows we need the money.

She's not running in 2008, but they don't need to know that..

2. Hmm
Just an interesting historical comparison:

Brown & Root, a Texas-based construction company, was Lyndon Johnson's personal cash cow for all his years in the federal government. In return for favors to the Browns, he was given amazing sums of cash for campaigning. In fact, through contacts developed from George and Herman Brown, Johnson was able to tap into Texas oil money in order to elect Democrats. What's the truly interesting thing here? The Browns, as well as most of the Texas oilmen, were about as racist and reactionary as it got. LBJ took their money and passed 4 civil rights acts (1957, 1960, 1964, 1965), aided the careers of scores of Democrats, both liberal and conservative, and created the Great Society.

Lesson? It's not the source, it's the use. Oh, if Brown & Root sounds familiar, there's a good reason. It's the Halliburton subsidiary that keeps getting into trouble in Iraq. :P

3. Lots of wealthy people donate to both parties (or people within the party)
They hedge their bets. Murdoch is not a huge supporter of Hillary.
