So the Supreme Court says we don't need no Democracy!
Twice this week. Can't limit campaign contributions, redistrict for political reasons anytime you wish. Just tweak that system for partisan advantage anytime you feel like it, the $64 question is whether this will still be OK when the LIBERALS try to do it when our turn inevitably comes around.

1. And that really is the smell test isn't it?
If you can honestly say that you are comfortable with your partisan opponents having the same extension in power then by all means proceed. There is always the potential for someone you don't care for to weild the very powers you would grant to one of your own. Either Republicans simply don't understand this or they believe that they will continue to stay in power indefinitely. They haven't figured on the enemy in their own ranks. They may soon trade a Lenin for a Stalin... God help us all then.

2. I honestly think they have no intention of relinquishing power.
I can't see how they can, there has been law breaking of such a scale that they will be at the Hague in a matter of months otherwise.

3. I would have to agree with you.
The problem as I see it is that they are ignoring the lessons of history. Don't they realize they would just become slaves to they tyrant they are creating, and ultimately as disposable as any of the tyrant's enemies. Just ask Ernst Rohm's ghost.

4. What you said. I think that your premise is the invisible elephant
in the room. I think many people are beginning to admit this embedded feeling to themselves. HOW CAN THEY ALLOW THEMSELVES TO BE DEFEATED? What laws they have not broken, they have changed to the advantage of the ones in power, so how can they allow the opposition to be in power?

We keep deluding ourselves that an election will bring things back to normal. Why can't we see that things will never return to normal because they have been stretched to for out of shape.
