2. Even Clark can't get me to watch O'Lielly or anything else on Faux
Besides, he's on at the same time as Keith.

3. I wish that people like General Clark
and others from the Democractic/Progressive side would NOT appear on O'Reilly. All it does is lend an air of respectability and some dignity to O'Reilly --- and he deserves zero respectability and not to be taken seriously as a "journalist". I honestly don't think any Democrat/Progressive, no matter how reasoned and eloquent, is going to change the mind of the average, regular viewer of O'Reilly. If the Democrats/Progressives refused to play ball and would not appear on his show there'd be nobody left to have on but rabid right-wingers and it would glaringly and immediately throw into high relief what O'Reilly is really all about --- a fascistic blowhard threat to Democracy.

4. I'm hoping he can convert quite a few of the centrist O'Reilly
watchers. I don't think all of them are hard core. I think the exposure and name recognition will help him when he runs again.

14. This is a joke, right?
No one who watches O'Really has more than a few functioning brain cells. And that includes all the DUers who watch everything on Fox

15. I do not watch Fox, but I am glad some DUers do
It is important to understand the propaganda the other side puts out. I don't watch Fox, I don't even have cable in fact, but I do occasionally visit some right-wing blogs. Understanding the other side makes it easier to fight the other side.

I just hope that when Clark goes on there he rips into O'Reilly hard. He should not worry about getting invited back he should make O'Reilly explode. If I ever had a chance to go on the show I would completely ignore any questions I was asked and instead say what I wanted to say. Tell them if they give me the time I will eventually address their questions, but first I have my own points to make.

23. MN.. you don't need DU'ers to watch that nasty stuff !!
You can go to "News Hounds" (their motto is "We watch Fox so you don't have to")

http://www.newshounds.us/

"Media Matters for America" is great too! http://mediamatters.org/

And last, but not least.. "Crooks and Liars" http://www.crooksandliars.com/

16. No, I know a lot of centrist and even left-leaning folk who
periodically watch O'Lielly. Wes Clark exposure is a good strategic move on his part, IMO.

9. Actually understand that CNN and MSnbc
are actually no better. Apart from Keith, there is no Dignity out there on cable, and even on the networks.

If we ignore the conversations that the right wingers are having with each other....just like the effectiness of a Rush Limbaugh, it really ends up hurting only us in the end. We should have strong Democrats respond to all of those assholes and the bull they serve directly and forcefully....and let the RWingers who watch be forced to know that theirs is not the only point of view.

John Kerry ignored a whole lot of attacks and propaganda during election 2004, and instead of the right wingers looking less dignified, we ended up losing what we most likely could have won.

So I say, ignore them at your peril....
Me, I'm ready to rumble!

17. Clark didn't raise a ruckus when O'Reilly got the Malmedy thing backwards.
I have tons of respect for the General, but at times he seems overly cautious.

26. Clark missed a chance to blow B.O. out of the water in "the no-spin zone".
Edited on Thu Jun-29-06 01:59 AM by oasis
Gen. Clark won the bout but failed to deliver the knockout blow.Thousands of Fox viewers were left to take B.O.'s version as fact since it's not likely they caught the Olbermann "correction" the following night.

I still have the highest regard for the general but he let that one slip.:-(

edit: for sad smiley.

20. His objective for appearing was not to talk about Malmedy......
so I give kudos to him for not allowing fools to sidetrack him into debating issues which took place over 50 years ago.....at a time when we need Democrats sticking to talking about what is going on right now!

That's how I see it.

11. Overt and Covert Danger
True O'Reilly is an absolute lying rightwing asshole; nevertheless, even people who watch the shithead every night know that O'Reilly is wingnut shill. Faux is overt and thus, their credibility is always in question.

But when I go to a Democratic event and people who should know better, who need to know better, tell me that Wolf Blitzer is liberal, then we are really in trouble. CNN is covert and must more dangerous. Why else would a network let Jeff Greenfield open his gob?

Good for General Clark. I hate to see him in these situations. General Clark always tells the truth, and that makes O'Reilly especially crazy. But then again, the General is an Army Ranger who is unafraid of going behind enemy lines. Enemy lines I might add, that get twice the viewership of CNN.

If Democrats are to boycot lying media, then the call would have to be for them to stay off media altogether including the NewsHour that can often bow to ADM. One of the worst "hit pieces" I ever heard directed at Wes Clark was on NPR.

10. As I remember, Wes needed dental floss to remove little bits of O'Reilly's
backside from his pearly whites when he was done with him last time.

Frenchie used to have a pic of a can of "Wupp-Ass Spray" in her signature line, because that's what Wes carries with him when he descends into the Fox Pit of Vipers. H'es so damned GOOD!

12. This may be the first time
Clark has been on O'Reilly since the Malmedy BS that earned O'Reilly not just WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD for the day by KO, but also quite an eloquent chewing out by Keith asd well.

I hope someone watches it and posts what happens since I am on vacation and without cable. Sigh. Hate to miss a good smackdown.

Will not give that asshole the viewership. I'll look for the report on DU instead. I've no doubt O'Reilly will have his ass handed to him and I look forward to reading about it.

Just watched the rerun. Clark even got O'Reillly to admit that the French can be tough. That was a truly masterful performance.

28. Dialup delay
With no faux and only dialup, I hadn't actually seen this clip until now. Reading about this appearance by the General, I was unprepared for just how great it was. Wes said everything that he wanted to say, and O'L was caught wanting. (Well, he's always wanting--but this time he couldn't find his blather.) Anyway, Wes has long advocated for internationalizing Gitmo, and basically getting rid of it. I'm glad he got to say it to O'L's audience before bush tries to claim credit (where none is due) for an idea they've been happy to ignore.
